Who here has Scot blood in them....

My old dear comes from Haggis land and her family tartan is the Duncan tartan

My old man comes from Somerset - and it seems there is a Somerset tartan - better described as a tea-towel by the looks of it

My grandmother's maiden name was Turner, and apparently her brother has done some snooping in terms of the family tree...Although, he hasn't shared much of this information as of yet.

According to the website provided, the Turner's belong to this clan:

Lamont Gaelic Name: MacLaomainn Motto: Ne parcas nec spernas (Neither spare nor dispose) Badge: Crab Apple Tree Lands: Argyll and Cowal Origin of Name: Norse, Lawman

As for what my grandmother's brother found out, and this is according to him, our ancestors were chased out of Scotland when one of them had an affair with Mary Queen of Scots.

I know that she did manage to get around in her day, thanks to history classes, but whether or not what my grandmother's brother said holds any truth...Who knows.

Clan Fraser of Lovat - but we hit these shores centuries ago so my german & scandinavian roots are newer.

My grandfather had Scotch in his blood. An ounce a day if I remember correctly.

My ancestry goes back to the UK (they were Colonial Loyalists) but we're unable to trace it back to a more specific region.

And since this needs a bump...

How many of you with Scots in you owns/wears a kilt?

And the obvious question... what do/would you wear beneath it?

Born, bred and corrupted in Edinburgh. I'm a Burns, so part of the Campbell clan.

My maternal grandfather claimed to be part Scots-Irish, but he looked Italian or Spanish - tall and dark. He was also part Austro-Italian. Is Robinson a Scottish name?

On my mother's side I have TONS of scotch blood, and the last line was my great-grandmother who was a McJunkin, descended from Robert McJunkin & Margaret Caldwell, circa 1700.

The clan is Duncan.

I am also 14th generation great-grandson of King James IV of Scotland.

Other names in my direct lineage include:

Alexander, Douglas, Black, Campbell, Maxwell, Hamilton, Stewart, Macdonnall, and Macgregor, which became MacGehee when Patrick Macgregor was outlawed in 1645 and his son Jhn became John Murray & his son James became Thomas MacGehee (whom i'm decended directly from also).

I'm a proud Davidson! Grandmother and her 8 brothers and sisters came from Bellshill, although they left Scotland from Ayrshire. I still have family in Hamilton, Scotland. I also have a kilt in my tartan and am a proficient player of the pipes!

:D:D:wave: Member of the Macdonald Clan from my father's side of the family.Mother's family came from Ayrshire. I was born in Edinburgh but took off for Australia on my own shortly after finishing high school. I still enjoy black pudding on a Sunday morning.I have worn a kilt, but warm weather is needed and is best worn by guys with large arses in order to'swing the kilt' as they say.

P.S. To avoid any sarcastic remarks from our gullible Americans who have never set foot outside of the U.S.A. (75% of the population don't have passports) black pudding is a breakfast dish, not black dick, but then it all depends on how you look at it.
