AHEM

Although the Four Yorkshiremen Sketch was written by Graham Chapman and was often performed by various members of the Python troupe during live appearances - most famously the Live at the Hollywood Bowl show in the video - it is not ACTUALLY a Monty Python sketch. It predates the formation of Python by two years, first being performed on At Last the 1948 Show in 1967 (by Chapman, Cleese, Marty Feldman and Tim Brooke-Taylor).

Because Chapman's contract with ITV prevented him from re-using material he'd written for the show after his move to the BBC, it never actually appeared in any episode of MPFS. Which is why all the youtube vids are of the Hollywood Bowl performance (The original 1967 performance was until very recently thought to have been lost).

This was a pedant post. Thankyou, and have a nice day.

(oh, yes. Is from Ipswich)
