Who listens to AM radio?

I literally can't remember the last time I listened to AM. I'm always listening to one of the two Public Radio stations in my area (FM)!

when i want to listen to some talk aside the comedy podcasts and language learning podcasts i listen to a couple serious channels...

I do in the mornings. Here we have WSB 790 and WGST 640. Both are good. After that it's XM radio for me. Today's broadcast stations leave a lot to be desired.

All the time. I've entered my "talk radio years".

Long live Lowell Green.
I even listen to the stream while at work, except early afternoons when the leftist dude is on.

I'd say more than 90% of my radio listening is to KGO 810. It's a San Francisco station, but covers a HUGE area, not just the SF Bay area. I only listen to the talk shows there. I don't care for the news/traffic they do between 5 & 9 AM (Ca time). I like the hosts Ray Talaiferro, Bernie Ward, Ronn Owens, Bill Watenburg, etc. "Karel" is a host too and is "in your face gay". I listen to him because I listen to KGO no matter who is on, but he's not that good. By "in your face gay", I mean he won't shut up about it, often making immature innuendos about it. He talks about his sexuality way more than any straight person does theirs. I mean his show isn't about that, but he throws in remarks now and then. I don't mean to make fun of a gay guy in a gay message board, but this guy is too much. I think he's one of the most popular hosts though. Also, his music sucks. He plays it after each commercial break before he starts the topic. His music "trailers" are WAY too long and to make it worse, he sometimes sings along. You can listen to KGO over the Internet at http://www.kgoam810.com/ BTW, Karel is on Saturday: 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Sunday: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM Pacific time. None of the talk shows start at exactly the beginning of an hour. There is 7 minutes on news each hour, so listen in a 8:07, 9:07. 10:07, etc. If you have dead air over the Internet, it's because the commercials are not played over the Internet, only the actual show.
Ray Talaiferro is great, especially if you want to hear someone bash Bush and Christanity.

I might guess that most regular drivers in the greater NYC area have 1010WINS and WCBS880 programmed in on their AAM dial for traffic and weather. WHen traveling in the NY area they are a prerequisite to navigate around traffic trouble spots. and sometimes I just want to hear the "news" (if you can really call it that).
