Who lives in the country - and is content?

A few of you know I have mentioned that I live in Alaska and am about 140 miles NE of Anchorage and nearest town is 47 miles away. Live without fire protection and the EMS could be a lot better, but they are all trade offs. Love it here, quiet, solitude, wilderness all around, wildlife abounds. Surrounded by mountains, rivers, lakes. Fantastic. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Cell service we have, DSL we have, Dish Network we have, electrical we have. Quiet we have. Can't complain at all.
 
I've always lived in the country. I'm just not a city person. There's a cotton field in front of my house and a forest in my back yard. It's nice and quiet. The only drama is kids racing cars or if a twister comes. At night deer, racoon, and possum walk through my yard. On a summer night the fireflies have an almost magical quality.
 
gay scene, i could care less about the gay scene. it's the openess, tollerance, and diversity i like. and, to the person that is ready to scream this at me, i know, austin has very few black folk.

i just hate having to drive to go somewhere. mind u, i love driving. but i much prefer walking a block or 2 or taking a bus to where i want to go. austin still has a bit of a way to get completely like this, but i can't wait.
 
i live in the country as well , our town isnt as small as others but its got everything we need shops wise and all the entertainment we need , plus it is a safe town and i plan on staying here in the future
