Who makes you laugh?

On New Year's Night, CNN broadcast a comedy special entitled "Love, Gilda." They are repeating the show Saturday, January 5 at 9PM ET. This was about the life and career of Gilda Radner, who was one of the original Saturday Night Live cast members in the 1970s. She died 10 years before I was born, but I've enjoyed watching her on old SNL repeats. Her characters were funny and she took risks that made me laugh out loud. (RoseAnn RoseAnnaDanna) Watching this program gave me an idea for a thread.

When it comes to standup or sketch comedy, who made/makes you laugh and why? It doesn't have to be SNL performers, though there are many to choose from there. Male or female.

I saw this documentary on Gilda Radner when it played it the theater. It was great! Sad and funny! She was very funny!

ShadowCat: Jeff Dunham is a brilliant ventriloquist and I love his characters, (Peanut, Walter, Achmed, Bubba J, Jose). I really like Gabriel (FLUFFY) Iglesias. George Carlin was a master at looking at the most ordinary things, common phrases and sayings, and pointing out how incredibly absurd they are. (You can prick your finger, but you can't finger your prick) I liked his "blue" humor. I remember when I was about 12 listening to the '7 Words You Can't Say On Tv.' :) I like Rosanne and Tim Allen. I didn't know they began their careers as standup comedians. I'm just 19, so I have much to learn about comedy history.

Charon: Thank you for posting these videos! I hadn't seen Clay or Kinison, but I love how brash and fearless they are. A lot of sensitive people, especially women, would probably be put off by their style. I do remember seeing Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack and Ladybugs. Fucking hilarious!

I'll add these guys I like who aren't afraid to offend: Daniel Tosh, Anthony Jeselnik, and Ron White.

This should be a fun thread. :D
 
I love watching "Carol Burnett & Friends." These old skits from back in the 1970s are funny. Carol could sing and dance, and wear wild costumes. I think she's about 85 now. I enjoy her as "Eunice" in those skits that later became "Mama's Family." Her character Mrs. Wiggins with Tim Conway as Mr. Tudball is hilarious. It gets really funny when Conway goes off-script and Harvey Korman can't keep from laughing.
 
Here are my favorite SNL cast members, in no particular order: Dan Aykroyd, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, Gilda, Phil Hartman, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Lovitz.
 
I doubt any of you know her, but some time ago I really really enjoyed French actress Florence Foresti. Specially her sketches as naughty aristrocrat Anne-Sophie de la Coquillette.

I forgot Billy Crystal!

Last night I saw Paula Poundstone live in concert and she was very funny! She played off the audience as well as told jokes! That is a gifted comedian!

Dana Carvey who I heard is getting a late night talk show on Comedy Central!

Last night I saw Paula Poundstone live in concert and she was very funny! She played off the audience as well as told jokes! That is a gifted comedian!
 
Last night I saw Bobby Collins do a live set! Will Shriner opened for him and he was very funny! He came out and opened with a 20 minute set.

Then, Bobby Collins came out and he performed for 1 hour and 15 minutes. He was VERY funny!

What a great and funny show!
