I used XP forever and then I used Vista and it really sucked balls. Now I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate (x32) and absolutely no issues here. I'm very pleased with Windows 7!

I used XP until about 5 months ago, the nI switched to Win 7 RC Build 7100. Retail Win 7 is incompatible with my current GFX card.

I never even went near Vista. The horror stories from other gamers made me take a wide berth.

I went from primarily using my aging XP desktop straight to Windows 7 laptop and I've yet to have any problems. Never had any experiences with Vista soo can't really comment.

I just recently switched my desktop from XP to 7 (32-bit), and I like it a lot! I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements they made from Vista, and how smoothly it runs even though I'm running the 32-bit version. My laptop runs Vista and while on the surface the only problem is it is slow, beyond that it has been a source of aggravation. Vista has horrible hardware comparability to the point that if you don't have the very latest drivers for every piece of hardware before installing the service pack, it permanently prevents that hardware from working. This is especially frustrating when almost every piece of hardware you have is vendor-specific and you have to manually download everything off the vendor website. So most of the problems are partly Gateway's fault, but Vista is still a bloated behemoth.

Whenever I get a new computer, I'll probably go 64-bit. My current PC can do 64-bit but I'm not sure it's really powerful enough to warrant doing that. It has an address extension anyway so I could still use 4GB on 32-bit. My order for OS would go 7>XP>Vista.

I am on 7 now but I was using Vista the past 2 years... never had a problem.

My personal opinion is that 7>Vista>XP

Vista works fine for me too except for a few compatibility issues with some older hardware. But I attribute that to the 64bit OS on my pc. Roomie has 32bit Vista and aforementioned hardware works fine on his machine.

In my experience the ranking would be 7?>Vista 32bit>XP>Vista 64bit

I run Vista, just because both my laptop and my desktop came with it.

To be honest the only problem I have had with it is finding stuff in the control panel. Everything else is fine with me. Most of the differences seem cosmetic and the Windows 7 adverts seem really pathetic.

Use Windows 7 and have from the beta.

Windows 7 Starter on net book and Windows 7 Ultimate on normal laptop.

Both run excellent. Before Windows 7 I Vista and that worked great for me.

I hate Vista. I had a Dell Inspiron that I bought back in 2008 that was running Vista when I first got, it ran great for about 2 months then started to get bogged down (this is with regular system matience mind you, regular virus scans, weekly defrags, and I only used the computer for school and web browsing) so after a month or so of that I had to back up everything and reformat the drive. Finally I was forced to put Xp on the laptop.

Then I made the switch. I bought a 13'' Macbook Pro last October and Im still in love with it. My laptop is about half the thickness and weight of my 15'' Inspiron, I get on average about 5.5-6 hours of battery life if im conservative with the screen lighting and keyboard lighting. I can count the number of times my computer has been slowed down or a program locking up on my fingers.

And software wise, the Apple beats the dell hands down. All the software that is bundled with OSX is worth any price increase between a Windows Machine and most Macs. I mean out of the box i can take a Mac and burn DVDs with iDVD and iMovie, make music with garage band, and you get the full functionality of their productivity software like Mail, Addressbook(which will import contacts via bluetooth from a phone, I dont know if windows adress book does the same) and iCal (my favorite calendar program I have ever used). Plus you get the basic features that are part of OSX, like the disk utility tool.

Then With my mac I purchased iWork, the most appropriatly priced office bundle i have seen. It works with Office document, power point and excell formats, all the funtionality the average user needs and then some, and it cost $50 compaire that to 150 price tag for the student edition of Microsoft office.

So in 2007 I spent 1200 on a Windows PC that I had trouble with from the start and had to replace in less than 2 years plus had to spend money on extra software like Office and Daemon Tools. Then In 2009 I spent 1159 on my Macbook havnt had a single issue, plus its once sexy peice of technology that works exactly as it was designed too, Looks better, Cheaper, faster, thinner, oh and did i mention a lack of Vista?
