Again... the forums where you can see the age usually allow you to set it in settings whether you want it to show or not.

I believe part of your registration should be proven by your long form birth certificate. Solves lying right there.

On the settings/profile page there is an option under Required Fields/Privacy to hide age and date of birth or show it. I'm not sure where this would show.
 
Although sometimes people might want to know someone's age, most of the time it is irrelevant on this site. This is not a dating site. I am older than I care to be and don't want to advertise my age, but I do have it in my profile if anyone needs to know. MarkScott, I noticed that you don't have your age displayed in your profile.
 
Honestly, it wouldn't matter to me if my age was displayed or not. But I can understand why some people would feel uncomfortable with their age being displayed.
 
I am not sure it would be helpful, but I would not object to it. I am 48, about to be 49.
 
I'm gonna say no, not that I have a problem displaying my age. It more like I'm often judged as some snot nosed know-nothing kid when I've been described by many people as a Savant. If you use someone's age against them in an argument saying they're too young to make a proper arguement (it works for a select few topics), then what does that say about your confidence in your side of the argument? You really have to put someone down because of their age to enforce your point.

Age is not irrelevant when having discussions with people. We all automatically adjust what and how we say things depending on the persons age.

I was one who did post my age below my avatar, when that feature existed.
 
I wouldn't care. A lot of people have messaged/left comments to me assuming I'm older than I am, which can be a little irritating (it's cool you don't care for younger guys, but, uh...at least know I'm 22 and "one of them" when you comment).

Or I could just be a mindless drone and put .gifs with every post and appear young, hmmm...yeah, scratch the adding the age bit. :wink:
