Maybe I'm the only person that's interested in who was on the plane (known as Air Force One when the President is onboard.) Since I've seen nothing about this in the news or on the Internet --- does that mean no one else is interested? I can't imagine the plane being empty.

I seen the phone vids of the horrified looking people running and the low flying planes going behind buildings. I would think that more people would be outraged on the estimated $328,000 cost, carbon emissions, and low flying over ground zero.

Who do you think was on the plane? Does it matter?

Recriminations after NYC jet flyover photo op

By ULA ILNYTZKY and SARA KUGLER, Associated Press Writers Ula Ilnytzky And Sara Kugler, Associated Press Writers – Tue Apr 28, 12:01 pm ET

NEW YORK – It was supposed to be a photo op that captured images of an Air Force One plane with a majestic Statue of Liberty in the background. Instead, it turned into a public relations nightmare that led to recriminations from the president and mayor and prompted thousands of others to ask, "What were they thinking?"

It explains about a photo shoot and who they notified. But they told the ones they notified not to tell anyone else. That was NYPD and the mayors office.
It doesn't explain who was on the Air Force One just that a military photographer was in one of the jets to take pictures.
It's over and will never happen again, I presume.

I just can't help but wonder, why didn't they just photoshop the plane flying over N.Y.City?

The short answer to that question is another question:

When did anyone in government ever come up with a simple and cost-effective solution to any problem?

The bureaucratic mindset doesn't work that way.

Well, it wasn't Air Force One at the time, because the President wasn't aboard. In fact I heard he was furious when he found out about it.

The general reaction in New York was outrage, once they realized it wasn't another attack.

Btw, the guy who directed the secrecy about it beforehand was a Bush-appointed FAA official. Thinking about that makes me feel like a foil-hat-wearing conspiracy loony.

Ahhhhh, A Bush-appointed FAA official instructed to create something that would embarrass President Obama. Sounds logical.#-o:rolleyes:

The whole thing was a pretty dumb and inconsiderate stunt, not to mention a costly one.

I have Photoshop (new just learning it) and also Paint shop pro that I could do that. I've been looking for the plane by itself. I have pictures of Manhattan. I could do it but I guess it's too late.

No kidding. Reagan used the primitive version of such technology to rearrange the positions of diplomats and himself in some photos, for more appealing images (or something); I doubt anyone would be excessively pissed if a more extreme version were done today.

They could always label it "Photoshop tech's conception of Air Force One fly-by".

They were probably afraid they'd be pounced on for faking things....

Reading the article, I found with surprise that I actually agree with Sen. Schumer on something!
