Whoopi Goldberg Goes OFF On TV Guide/Stacy London

Are we in 2009 or 1865? Since when is what a person wears more important than how they carry themselves?

you know how they are in the media, if you don't play the glamour role, they want to slam you and make you feel like shit. Whoopi isn't into the hair and makeup like they want everyone to be that's famous.

...did you just wake up from a coma?

No, I've been so busy lusting for you that I haven't really noticed what's going on in the outside world.

!oops!

I assumed society had made some sort of progress by now after years of superficiliaty and the subsequent poisoning of American minds.

She takes no shit. She is a role model and one of the people I call secular saints. I love her

The author obviously isn't smart enough to recognize that Whoopi has her own specific style.
She is individual enough not to fall into the "cookie cutter image syndrome" so many others try to slavishly follow.
Her style is like her politics and comedic mind, solely her own.

One thing that's been overlooked. This is an article in TV Guide! It's a puff piece taking easy shots at obvious targets. They may as well offer diet tips to Bruce Valanch, or acting suggestions to the cast of the Hills. They're not meant to get Whoopi Goldberg to dress better. They're meant to amuse the easily amused, and get Grandma to nod and say "See how nice she'd look?"

Clue: There are people with serious problems in the world. Your self-absorbed, pretentious feigning of a catastrophe doesn't overcome the fact your profession just isn't that important!

"What Not to Wear" uses over-the-top statements for comedic effect. They take fashion seriously, but they're obviously being silly with their comments. I agree with Whoopi, because she's a self-made woman who has done a lot, so I'm not necessarily siding with London. Being very concerned with fashion does not mean one cannot be very concerned with other issues. And there are tons of professions that "just [aren't] that important." What does this have to do with the discussion at hand? You and others are being just as hyperbolic as those you criticize.

Whoopi's my girl. Always have been, always will be.

And she still looks better than the ugly brainless hags that wrote the shit about her in the first place. Not to mention richer and more popular as well.

And a LOT smarter as well.

I like Whoopi's attitude

I think some people would benefit from dressing better, or learning what fits into their shape, and all that...

But Whoopi is her own person, and she has had a successful career being her own person.

Why would she want to look like someone else?

it's like Trump's hair, it's NOT fashionable, nor it has ever been, but has that stopped him from making a few bucks?

Please!

True, but when you make a statement like it makes it hard to take her seriously, it goes into the territory of attacking her character/credibility. But then, Stacy's always rubbed me the wrong way on WNTW, Clint's always seemed a lot nicer.

Stacy was only doing her job. It's impossible to advice people on fashion without possibly offending them even when your goal is to really just improve their fashion sense.

What a load of shit. It's perfectly possible to do so. Snark sells magazines.

Remember when Whoopi was funny and did cutting edge stand up and funny movies? When and why did she let herself become a dowdy soccer mom yacking it up with a bunch of boring yentas?
I think Whoopi is so much better then the view. And it makes me sad to see her on that yawn fest. But hey a paycheck is a paycheck, right?

Oh please....

I love me some Whoopi...but she is the epitome of "a fashion don't"

sure...she has all the right in the world to dress the way she wants...but she usually looks sloppy or tacky.

She's in the public eye and should be used to all the negative attention...and besides...if she's going to go out in public looking like a hot mess...she should expect criticisms and take them with a grain of salt rather than getting all bent out of shape about other people expressing their opinions...which btw...is how she currently makes her living...

jmho...;)
