you're not alone, black frats have some weird shit goin on. i have too many browsers open to dig it up now but there's a black frat with a video floating around of a gymnasium full of them walking around and jumping with their bare asses exposed, of course these are also the church-going uber-masculine dominant male homophobe types. It was extremely confusing and totally not as sexy as you'd think an endless sea of bare bubble butts would be. black frats have a homophobic culture that is starkly contrast by the highly homoerotic behavior they not only engage in but film and upload to the interwebbz, makes ya wonder what they aren't letting us see.

Everybody has this stereotype of college being this super-liberal open minded place filled with young people who could no way be racist; BUT the most racist experiences in my life took place when I was away at college. I grew up in a Long Island suburban town (and keep in mind that LI has an infamous reputation for racism) and i've NEVER experienced the level of racism that i've experienced in college.

I got called the n-word by kids screaming out the window from dorm blocks. Some of my roommates would quickly call me the n-word when mad at me (and not the version ending in "a"). It got 5x worse when these people drank alcohol so after a while, I REFUSED to go around drunk people or leave my dorm room at night unless I was around people that I trusted.

When you mix bold, unsupervised and drunk young adults who were sheltered from diversity most of their lives then you get a very unsafe environment for most people of color. Especially when you're one of the few minorities of your ethnicity there and you're vastly outnumbered.

Overall, my experience was good (since I refuse to let the negative people overshadow the good things that I did experience up there) but it was also a very eye-opening experience.

Maybe bringing in transpeople can cut down some of that testosterone that has fueled the widespread domestic violence, corruption, rape and cover-ups that people don't have a problem with as much as they do transpeople joining. Where was all this righteous indignation when lavena johnson's rape and murder was hidden by the military until her name came up in a congressional hearing about another soldier's death? Aside from the gunshot wound she had a broken nose, a black eye, teeth were missing and her genitals had been burned by some sort of chemical. I don't remember you guys being all upset about having rapists in the military or about them being protected by higher-ups.

SU fraternity apologizes, says video shows 'sketch' meant to satirize frat member

Theta Tau apologized, saying "every single member of Theta Tau would like to apologize to everyone affected by the racist video..."

The statement said the video shows a sketch where new members get to roast active members.

One of the current members is a conservative Republican and the fraternity's new members used a "racist conservative character" to roast him, the fraternity statement said.

The sketch was intended to be a satire of "an uneducated, racist, homophobic, misogynist, sexist, ableist and intolerant person," according to the statement. (Ableist is a person who discriminates or is prejudice against individuals with disabilities.)

When I was in college, much of Greek life was about social bullying, and that after the pledges had undergone actual hazing to join the bullying bunch.

So, I can't find it shocking that, in parody, satire, or actuality, that the fraternity would have issues with use of hate speech. As I didn't read much on this, I didn't hear anything that sounded like anyone was actually harmed, but I can certainly understand both the national fraternity and the school condemning it and sanctioning them. As individuals, they have every right to speak either real hate or callous language, but as representatives of an organization and the university, they put themselves in jeopardy.

It's hard to find anything good in the whole mess other than at least it was just a tempest in a teapot, not some group defaming a Jewish cemetery, not writing hate speech graffiti on hall walls in the dorm, and not some actual violence against victims. It sounds like it was verbal stupidity, which beats all the other possibilities out there. Still sad to hear about.

I'm just counting the days til America civilizes itself and bans hate speech, it is destructive and has no place in a civil culture--. Free speech? HA. :rotflmao: Nobody defended the Black Panther's free speech, or Colin Kaepernick's or that middle-eastern college professor in Cali who read barbara bush her rights post-humous.
