Why are gays into sports?

It's not Sports, it is people & perception.
If more people came out, you'd see a decline in homophobia & the ignorance there-in.

In Sports, you ain't a race these days, or a sex preference.... you're $Green$.
If you can make the Wealthy wealthier and put on a good show for the masses it would not matter if you were a purple space dog with necrophiliac proclivities.

I watched almost every type of sport when i was young.
Sports are not homophobic. Some homo don't like sport because they are female like

I love sports and grew up playing several sports(football, baseball, soccer) and still love most sports. I think it's mostly the media that causes most of the problems for gay athletes. It becomes a media circus that gets milked and milked to death.

Because sports aren't gender or sexual preference specific. I used to play volleyball in high school with a bunch of girls, really being the only guy on the team. I was damn good at volleyball too.

sports is completely homophobic and you would have to be an idiot not to see that.

just saying.

That depends on the sport, and even then on the area. Just as in North America there can be differences in attitude between Utah and California (or even between Salt Lake and Provo), you will find some very gay-friendly soccer players in much of Brazil and mediëval bigots in Bolivia...

Gays, like anyone else, are into sports because we enjoy the games. Homophobes are everywhere including sports. My boyfriend, Dustin, played high school baseball. He told me he never got any grief from players or coaches. He did say he heard some anti-gay chatter coming from the bleachers during one game. It was from a couple of girls. Go figure. Two of Dustin's teammates went over and told them to shut up. And they did.

This gay is into watching sports for the obvious reason of watching hot sweaty in-shape guys; usually means I know little of what's going on, players names & history, etc.

I get enjoyment from watching sports, particularly football. Reason enough.

I'm with you, mbamike - i love to watch college football! And, yes, there are homophobes everywhere. Fortunately, there are gay people everywhere also.

Sports lover here. I also like rock music and don't particularly like Mariah Carey or stage musicals. Lol.
Gay people have all sorts of different interests and personalities.

Same here. Into sports and not into musicals.

Sports does not require homophobia to be sports.

If you said "Why are gays into preaching that all gays go to hell?" I would agree, because that activity requires homophobia. You can't be a westboro baptist without being homophobic.

But sports is not like that. You don't go faster down the luge track if you hate gays. You can't shave a hundredth of a second off your 100m if you hate gays. Your tennis serve is not more accurate if you hate gays.

Since homophobia is not required to do any of those things, that means sports is ours.

So what we have is a bunch of gay sports for gay fans and gay athletes, that are currently infested by homophobes we will eventually have to drive out. Politics used to be like that, but no one ever said "Why run for office - Parliament is completely homophobic...." That's exactly the point. You get involved to change it.

You said that well. I have nothing to add but my respect for you eloquence.

I don't like American Football because of all the brain-damage caused... the best part is the hits. Baseball is boring because there's no 'roids, although love the bulges. Basketball and hockey bore me.

Now golf is exciting. Nothing like a great major on Sunday afternoon.

I like watching lacrosse , football and baseball it's hot seeing a guy in a uniform that's sexy

I hear people talking about Survivor as being the ultimate game of strategy.....

Yawn....

Football is the ultimate game of strategy and skill..and very exciting to watch....

As for gay people and sports...The NFL was instrumental in getting Arizona and Jan Brewer to veto the new anti gay legislation...as they were in Georgia. The NBA and also College Basketball is holding the North Carolina idiot's feet over the fire as we speak.

If you go to a 49ers or a Giants game..you will see a lot of gay men in the stands....same with the Sharks....

As for gay players...I did work in a gay bar for many years..and I know alot of "stuff"
first hand..but I will go to my grave with their secrets. I would never out anyone.

Troll post? I'm not an idiot, I see it, and I really don't care.

There's homophobia EVERYWHERE. Sports are just like the workplace, the church, politics, and just about every aspect of life. But who fucking cares?
I love pro football, MMA, and wrestling. It's not about who fucks who but the thrill of the fight.

My fellow Vikes fans embrace me because of my knowledge of the team and the sport of football itself. Never got any shit about faggotry.

Sure, football fans like to throw gay slurs around from time to time but I grew up around and mostly associate with straight men, so I do it also. It's like Jessie J sang, "I can do it like a brother, do it like a dude."

MMA, and wrestling.

^woo hoo!

I like sweaty men and jockstraps.....mostly hotties play tooimage.jpeg

I am a fan of College sports. I played defense in Junior and Senior High School football. I do not watch pro sports very often mostly because pros seem to act more like children when they do not get their way and they get paid for it.

Hey nullaught, when there isn't even a friggin' CHICAGO CUBS thread on this entire website, your premise is wrong, lol...

Actually it's generally true with me. I spend no more than 0.2% of my life on sports. Maybe bumped up to 0.3 or 0.4 this year. But yeah, last night was special (and it was a great game, too).

my boyfriend got me into some sports - notably watching the Georgetown Hoya Men's basketball games, but we've also gone to a couple of college football and lacrosse games. anyhoo ....

Great win by the Cub's for the World Series title this year ... is it me but I've got a huge crush on Cubs catcher David Ross, too bad he's retiring [ ... mmmm]
