I have always been wondering...

In Europe I think most guys are uncut.

Why are most Americans cut?
Is it because of religious reasons or why?

Hope someone will explain to me well :-)

Short version - it originally was a religious thing, which became a "medical" one, in which it was thought by American doctors to be beneficial to keep the glans clean. This thought process is slowly falling out of favor, and so more and more American males are remaining uncut.

Thankfully. Circumcision is unnecessary mutilation, and something that should be outlawed. But thanks to the stupidity of us Americans, it will never be illegal because apparently it makes Jesus happy.

I used to hate the fact that my parents did it to me and my brother. I mean, how could a parent do that to a child? Then, when I thought about it a bit, I realized that the doctors actually persuaded new parents to do it back then, just so they could get more money. So, I understand why they did it.

However, I still don't see how someone could do that to their child when it is actually extremely dangerous and can even (rarely) cause death when the doctor doesn't know what he's doing. ](*,)

Luckily, people nowadays are informing themselves about the lie of circumcision and it's decreasing in popularity, as Lex said.

this is ? often/sometimes /usually done without anaesthetic , mutilating a newborn . So babies scream and turn purple . During her nurse's training my mother witnessed her first and came home and apologized to me like mad . Torturing newborns is something I think we should have a policy of not doing .

@Quantumreading

Thats BS honey, it most certainly is not mutilation.

I'm circumcised and it was done because I had phimosis, the procedure was 100% necessary.

As for circumcision in religion, thats really none of my business, tbqh.

Ugh. Circumcision can in no way be described as "extremely dangerous," and death will never result except in cases of unsanitary conditions or extreme immune deficiency, both of which would have led to illness and possibly death anyway.

It does have health benefits, although the value of those benefits are obviously subjective. If I had a child and my insurance covered it, I'd probably get my child a circumcision.

started by religious practice. Granted 2000 years ago it was hygiene was a problem. However like everything in this F d up world they had to make it something God wanted you to do. Even though it is a Jewish custom of course Jesus was Jewish TA DA fortunately I was not circumsized

I never asked my parents why. Like father like son they probably thought. I don't mind. I like my penis.

cut or uncut, I like them all........If I have to make a choice I think cut dicks look a lot more yummy

im cut, and glad my parents did it, I feel it makes it better looking. Not to mention cleaner, and easier to pee with getting down your pants. My friend is uncut, and says even though he cleans it twice a day, still has a funky smell to it and wishes he was cut. If i had a kid, I would most likely have him cut also.

I think a lot of parents do it just so their son fits in later in life. It's the old locker room mentality...despite the fact that nudity in school locker rooms is all but non-existent anymore.

Personally, I really don't give a fuck. I'm circumcised. The guy I'm seeing is uncircumcised. He likes mine. I like his. A good time is had by all.

As a non-american, I do think its strange that even non-religious Americans get circumcised, just because. I guess its became a social norm and most parents don't even question it much...its just the thing to do.

I don't really have any opinion on it....doesn't concern me. However, I really hate the ignorant, misinformed americans who adamantly claim how foreskins are gross, unhygenic and that an uncut dick smells. Just because you've had one or two bad encounters does not mean you can speak for the whole population with uncut dicks.

Having said that though, I do think that a cut dick looks nicer....generally. But then thats probably indoctrination from years of watching american porn :-)

Because they're prettier. When I have kids they're getting circumcised, most of the girls I was friends with in high school wouldn't have sex with a the guys who where uncut. I'd like to spare my child that humiliation. Plus, I had a horrific experience with one that still makes me nauseous when I think about it.

Hey guys. Thanks for an interesting views on the reasons. Now I understand it a bit more?

And what is the attitude of most Americans around you to uncut cocks? Do they find them unclean, have prejudices or on the contrary, they find them exotic and are curious to try them?

Sorry, but there is little truth to most of the posting here. In fact, it was mostly about the medicalization of birth in the early twentieth century. I was born at home, therefore I was not cut. I am damn glad.

Being born in a hospital did not come to much of America until after the World War II. Medical opinion and pressures had more to do with it as a result of the institutions we call hospitals. I call it a form of collective American ignorance.

I am suprized that some damn fool did not suggest it was written in the American Constitution. Here is to uncut. Some of you may think you have a prettier cock, but I doubt many have ever experienced the keen sexual sensations of the uncut cock.

How is it not mutilation, when you are cutting off someone's skin for all of the wrong reasons? You had phimosis. Therefore, your reason for getting circumcised is valid and WAS necessary for you. However, getting someone circumcised just because a doctor tells you to is wrong and just shows how little research people actually do on the subject.

Ugh. Circumcision can in no way be described as "extremely dangerous," and death will never result except in cases of unsanitary conditions or extreme immune deficiency, both of which would have led to illness and possibly death anyway.

It certainly can be extremely dangerous. Notice I said only if it's performed by a doctor who doesn't know what he's doing. There in fact is a somewhat high chance of complications when performed on infants. Like I said, it's rare that someone dies from it directly, however, it can cause many health problems that lead to death if not treated properly.

That is a very common misconception shoved down Americans' throats. When you have a circumcised penis, you have so few health benefits that it simply isn't worth it. In fact, circumcision can also be the cause of many health problems. Also, most of the things that circumcision is apparently supposed to stop can easily be prevented on uncircumcised penises by simply washing under the foreskin everyday.

Would you like you take away tens of thousands of nerve endings that give your child increased pleasure during sexual intercourse so that they can gain a few health benefits with the cost of possible health concerns?
