This comes up a lot. In America the term "Oriental" is offensive and "Asian" is preferred (or "Middle Easter" in the case of people from Turkey). In Europe, especially the UK, there is nothing wrong with "Oriental". As this is an international forum, I guess we all just have to assume things like this aren't meant as offensive.

Getting back to the original poster's question, I don't think it is just men from Asia. I think it is (like many things) a throw of the genetic dice. I'm racially mixed and my cock is way darker than the rest of me unless I've been out in the sun for a week or two. What's wrong with Oriental? The orient (with or without caps) is "the east".
Strictly speaking it's anything east of the Greenwich meridian (or whatever it's
called now), but is generally used to mean east of Suez. In other words, it is
Asia. from the Gaza strip over to where Siberia plays kissy kissy with Alaska. Nowadays it's mainly used for South-East Asia.

Logically, banning the use of oriental to describe the inhabitants of this region
would only make sense (?) if you were also to ban the terms Easterner and Asian. as well as the opposites: Occidental (mainly used in French), Westerner, etc.

Hong Kong calls itself 'The Pearl of the Orient'. I am from Hong Kong, so that
makes me an Oriental. Are you denying my existence?

Say it loud, I'm Oriental and I'm proud!

Supposedly, sweating in the genital areas--pit of the arms and ass crack may contribute to darkening in these areas for some, regardless of race, color or ethnic origin, and not for others.

Asian is the appropriate term for people of asiatic descent. Oriental, when used correctly, is a point of reference for food and all things related to the culture of asiatic people (in and / or from the far east and points south). And, while one can be from the "orient" s/he is not Oriental. S/he is Asian.

Can we just leave it to context? Like I posted before, JUB is an international community with many different standards on word choice. No matter how many times a post makes the claim for or against "oriental" or "asian" it is *not* going to stop other members from using the words if they are not derogatory terms in their home nation.

Though on the US note - our government isn't always PC, so it is not surprising that it is generally considered offensive to use a term in the US that is still used in legislation. Also, one Filipina does not speak for every person of Filipino heritage living in every society across the globe.

Again, try not to take offense where it isn't meant. If you question the motives of a poster, hit the comment bubble or send them a PM. Perhaps its simply cultural miscommunication.

As for me, know when if I ever post using the term "oriental" I am referring to food and if I use the term "Asian" I am referring to people - because every Asian person I know and every book I have read has told me this is the preference. I apologize in advance if you disagree, no offense is intended.

i've also come to the conclusion that most men's penis color can be determined by the color of their nipples ... in some cases its true, and in some cases its not ... but i have noticed it to happen more than once.

i had a punk rock friend in college who was half japanese and half jewish...this guy was into being "punk" and loved saying really offensive things to people yet he got pissed off if I called him oriental...so yeah, i wouldn't use that term here in the U.S.
