i get half of my mail in the am & the other half in the pm & sometimes i might just get it on sundays(its delivered next door) & i live in a 3 family building & i get their mail too... so WTF!!!!!!! yeah go ahead & keep raising the postage. assholes!!!!!!:grrr::mad:](*,)

Make a quick call to your Post Master. That did the trick for me!

The workers in post office in the city I live in are soooooo slow with everything so I go to the next city over to mail stuff.

When they deliver it to my home, they often times deliver the wrong mail because all of the homes in my development have numbers between 10-50 with different street names. So I will often times get mail that is the right number but wrong street.

Let's not dump all letter carriers into this bucket. I have an excellent one and the staff at the post office near my home is wonderful.

US Postal Service Set to Raise Rates Again

Just we when got used to the idea of paying 41¢ each time we sent out a letter to grandma, the United States Postal Service has decided to, yet again, raise the cost of postage. Starting May 12, the mailing rate will increase by one penny.

And the cost for other services, such as advertising mail, periodicals, and special package services will also change. Any changes to the cost of Priority Mail and Express Mail items have yet to be announced.

With the new Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act that took effect in late 2006, the U.S. Postal Service is allowed to adjust prices annually each May with 45-days notice. With another increase since last year, many of us are beginning to wonder if the price hikes will ever end. And those of us who purchased Forever stamps, 5 billion since their launch last April, are glad we did. Maybe these little 41¢ stamps were a good investment after all. In anticipation of the rate change, the U.S. Postal Service is printing an additional 5 billion Forever stamps to meet the demands of customers over the next few months. My prediction is they will sell out, especially if we can expect more rate changes in the near future.

It's all down to the postman/woman. If you got someone with a lazy attitude, then you're gonna get sloppy service.

As for am/pm deliveries, you're lucky to have two a day. We only get the one. Maybe there is always new post in the sorting office coming in from somewhere, so you're getting two deliveries...

no i mean she will deliver 1/2 my mail to the neijbours,And then when they get home they will redeliver the other 1/2 to me

When my business moved to a new building last year, our postman told us how it was gonna be.

1. She wasn't going to come in the front (which is what they're supposed to do) since it was too far to walk that way. Instead, she'd ring the bell at the freight entrance.

2. If we didn't answer the bell in 15 seconds, she was leaving.

3. If we had more mail than she could carry out at once, she'd take what she could and get the rest tomorrow.

4. If we didn't like it, we could go to hell.

...we have a different mail carrier now.

SHHHHH !!!

All of you !!! [-X

All this negative talk about postal workers is just going to get them disgruntled, and then Lord only knows what could happen.

Actually, my postman is this hottie from Jamaica that's just as cute and nice as could be, so I have no complaints, mhan, we be jammin'.

(Plus, since I started getting my copy of The Advocate without it's white wrapper, he, if anything, has become even more friendly...so, well, you never know... ;))

our postal carrier can't even be bothered to close the lid on the mailbox, it happens every day. They walk the route, and I have a box that hangs by the door. My bf had a very large check ruined when it rained. It was uncashable. It took weeks to get it replaced.

UPS isn't any better, either.

I know a lot of people who have just had stuff left on their front doorstep or porch, and it's gotten stolen. Or at least that's the theory, because without receiving it they can't really know WHY they didn't.

On the other extreme, if you're not there to sign (and if you work normal hours, you probably *NEVER* will be home at the right time), the item gets returned to the shipper after 3 tries, I think. I don't believe UPS even gives you the alternative of going to their office to pick it up, either.

Not to beat a dead horse, but two points:

1. The USPS is a perfect example of a rock solid union operation. There are great postal workers amidst the bad ones, but God help you trying to remove a bad one.

2. The USPS is a perfect example of a government-run operation -the same inept, incompetent government many want running their health care.

OK, maybe one whack at the dead horse.

UPS is another fine example of a rock solid union operation.

Firstly the Postal system is technically no longer a government "owned" service. It is a government "subsidised" corporation.
Secondly while the USPS is a union oporation you will never see a strike there because when a carrier is hired thay are made to sign a no strike clause.
Now if anyone has a better idea of how to move millions and millions of letters and parcels to individuals and businesses everyday (including Sundays during the holiday season) I'm sure they'd love to here it.
Oh and as the receiver of mail, you do have responsiblities too. make sure the path to your box is clear and safe. Make sure your box is large enough to hanlde your corespondence and make sure it's weather tight.
UPS can strike as they are a private owned company. They have come close to striking a couple of times.
Now for those who don't like how their parcels are received. Go to the store and make your purchase in person. Not only do you get the item right away, you also get to enjoy it right away.

Example 1 of how NOT to run a government-subsidized corporation:
A few years back the USPS proposed moving the post office from Fort Smith up to Northwest Arkansas. There's more mail volume in NWA. We were told it would be more efficient, though it would cost quite a few million dollars.

As is his mysterious habit, our mayor took up the right fight for the wrong reason. He didn't want Fort Smith to lose its postmark. He rallied the blue-hairs and dug in against the USPS. He won -the post office is still here.

The reality is that there is more mail in NWA than in Fort Smith for one specific reason. The USPS insists on shipping mail from Eastern Oklahoma all the way to Tulsa instead of driving it a few miles across the state line to Fort Smith. If they would take the mail to the nearest processing center, ignoring things like state lines, there'd be more mail here and it would be processed much more efficiently.

They do it because their lives suck.

...sorry, it's the only thing I could come up with.
