Why are there more gynaecologists than andrologists?

A urologist can specialize in male fertility treatments. And OBGYN who focus on fertility treatments will study reproductive endocrinology and they can treat males as well.
 
Ok, urologists.

Still, I think men have as much problems dealing with problems down there as women. We all know the capacity to become hard down there, to get erections, ejaculations, ........... are core business. So, why isn't it catered for in exactly the same way as for women? I think there should be even more andrologists than gynaecologosts.
 
Your erection problems can be solved by a family physician, no need for a specialist. It used to be that gynecology as a field was very narrow in responsibility, but now not only they have to fix broken vaginas but focus on prenatal care and delivery. OBGYN specialty faces shortages but the demand is always there. The only time I hear guys go to a urologist is when they're reaching mid age with bladder control and prostate issues developing.
 
Simply because it pays more. And birthing babies is much more fun than old men who can't pee.

Eventually, the malpractice insurance cost becomes the issue, though.
 
There can be very good reasons for it. Still, when you see the enormous difference in number of andrologists and gynaecologists, all "good" reasons whatsoever can hardly justify such extreme difference.

Perfect anti-male discriminating non-sense to me.

If boys were raised with more cock awareness, there would be more andrologists. But everything is done to destroy all cock awareness in boys all the education process long.

Moreover, every change in sexual behaviour in men is indicative of something else. If men would see more often an andrologist specifically about their cock and balls, they would avoid many problems, but everything is done to distract men from it.

Very few men are willing to go to the doctor for anything let alone their junk until it's falling off (I'm almost being serious). It's not just a fallacy, it's one of the first things I learned in med school. However, loki was right too every woman needs one eventually and GYNs are less specialized than andros.
 
Because there's lots of gynaecoids but precious few androids?

Obstetricians/gynaecologists have a larger scope than just women's health. They also take care of delivery, antenatal care, and contraception methods as well as family planning.

Andrologists are typically bound to men's health, specifically men infertility. Urologists can also be in this role, but they are more specialised in urology problems.
 
Given a choice, I would MUCH rather spend my day examining men than women!
 
If you know any women, you are probably aware that there are thousands of awful things that can go wrong with their lady-parts. With birth control and periods and cancers and papillomae and yeasts and goddess-knows-what-else, the cooter barely gets a chance to rest. It's simply a more complicated mechanism than the male equivalent... just the fact that it's a two-way street, where the male genitalia are strictly one-way, doubles the issues involved.

And, as has been pointed out, we don't need andrologists (what an idiotic word!) because we already have urologists.

Men have been running the world and getting their way for thousands of years; we can take the backseat for a little while; and all this "Men's Movement" crap is little more than the tantrums of a thwarted child.
