I totally expected to get a rise out of my parents when I made it "official". I figured the least they could do was cry or something. No such luck. Having cool parents just sucks some days.

My dad came the closest to being nonplussed. He just replied, "Yes, and when you were five you wanted to be a fireman. I suspect this is something you may grow out of as well."

I'm thinking it's permanent at this point. The fireman thing only lasted a few months.

That's as stupid as asking a person why they have cancer.... being gay is something that is out of an individual's control. I think "bisexuals" cause more harm than good to the understanding of homosexuality because of their affinities to the opposite sex. People will never get it through their thick skulls that homosexuality is not a choice... but that won't change as long as bisexuals spend their time cheating with men and marrying women... they've practically turned true homosexuality into some kind of bizarre sex fetish. Simply put if "bisexuals" want to "play it straight" then they should stay with their wives and families and leave true gay men out of their misbegotten lives.

I know Im going to get bombed for saying this, but I think the intended default mode for each sex is heterosexual. This is based solely upon the concept that life is to continue, expand, advance, and grow. Two of the same sex simply cannot reproduce and create offspring.

The gene that causes homosexuality is obviously an abnormalty, which is why homosexuals are very much the minority in the overall world population. I feel that this gene is just like any other gene that is the cause for a trait that is not overly common.

With that said, the question "Why are you gay?" can be answered simply by, "I was born this way".

I agree with Surfboy18 to a point. I don't know why every person prior to this post has chosen to beat up and ridicule the originator of this thread. Why can't gay men/lesbians respond with love rather than spit and venom. Somebody asked the question "why we're gay?" We should have tried to enlighten that individual like Surfboy did rather then cut them down and make a mockery of this thread. I ask myself that question almost everyday. "Why am I gay?" I was married and have a gorgeous daughter. I had a happy family but I wasn't happy. I was attracted to guys not my wife. My life would be so much easier if I wasn't gay and was still with my family. So I wonder myself...."WHY THE FUCK AM I GAY?' So all you self righteous fucks back off. Cause this isn't a spiteful question. Its reality! A scientific puzzle. Why are we gay? We are we different from the majority? Did God make us this way? Did we genetically become gay, or did we evolve into homosexuals? I wonder this everyday.
