At least the person who uploaded the video didn't stick 'The' in front of their name.

Telstra, if I understand you correctly, I think you're referring to artists creating new songs of the quality of "Sweet Dreams," as opposed to just doing a cover. I agree. There's a wealth of original songs in the Sixties, Seventies, and Eighties, and a few in the Nineties - but not so much lately. I don't mind it so much when artists do covers of others' songs, if they're done well, but it would also be nice to hear something new and original, something that really makes you sit up and take notice.

I've always liked this song by Cyndi Lauper. I think it's one of her best songs. It was a song that almost didn't happen. It was actually written as a "filler" song for her album, "She's So Unusual," and instead, it became the biggest selling single from that album.

Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time

Ronan Keating did a nice cover version last year.
I made a video for it.

I mean some of the new songs are crap using auto-tune for the artist's voice.

nice video.
Is it an official video for Ronan ?

Here's another favorite of mine -
a great tune and a great video!

Eurythmics - Here Comes The Rain Again

One of my all-time favorite songs from the Eighties

Double - Captain of Her Heart

>>>I mean some of the new songs are crap using auto-tune for the artist's voice.

And people have shown - both by their voices and their wallets - that they not only don't object to autotune, but they actually prefer it. More than half the songs on the COUNTRY chart are blatantly autotuned, and this in a genre that prides itself in supposed "down-home authenticity". My friend has suggested that some kids may grow up thinking they can't sing because they don't sound auto-tuned. :)

>>>After reading this article, I think it should be banned.

And was that you yelling "Judas!" at Bob Dylan when he played electric in '65 or so? And insisting bands who played synthesizers in the late 70s pay an addition tax for "taking work away from real musicians"?

I'll be so glad when that trend goes away. I want to hear a clear human vocal, not buzzing from electronics.
