Why did "The A List: New York"/"A List" franchise fail?

There's nothing real about "reality" tv, though. Its all fake, all contrived. Its the kinda train-wreck, car-crash crap that nobody wants to look at but some just can't help themselves then they can't look away garbage that TV execs are led to believe society WANTS to see.

An hour of scripted TV can cost up to and above 1 MIL$ per episode to produce. An hour of reality can be as low as the price of a new Kia. (maybe even a used one) They can throw 15X the number of shows at us for the same cost and even if only TWO stick they're ahead of the game. ps there ARE some Reality shows (of course not REAL reality I agree) that ARE watchable to me at least:
7 Little Johnsons
My 600Lb Life
NY ER, Bizarre ER
And of course ANYTHING with the Amish :-) (fakest of the fake I know they all have old MySpace pages w pix of them in thongs) but they're SO foreign to me I enjoy watching anyway :-=)

Not sure how these shows are given the green light but they must know there's a market for it.

:rotflmao: You actually believe so-called "reality" shows aren't scripted???? #-o Trust me, they have a script.
 
Of course everyone knows they're mostly scripted with a bit of improv added in.

Oddly enough most of the performers don't really know they're scripted. They're usually hired based on how gullible and easy they are to manipulate into saying things.

That said... a scripted show requires a much higher standard of acting, production and editing and it's true that "reality" shows, as fake as they are, cost a LOT less to produce.

LOL guys w/o saying too much, THIS is my business. I'm a member of the WGA (writers guild of America) the union that governs all UNION TV and Film. "Scripted" is the term used to differentiate all NON-Reality shows, sitcoms, CSI's etc etc from "Reality" shows. "Technically" reality shows do not employ writers, do not generate or register "scripts", are NOT union shows, and get away with it by having the producers "guide" the sad sad ppl in them to do what they do and say what they say. And the COST difference is astronomical as I said before. And the cheaper the cost the MORE likely it is to get green lit ala WHAT do they have to lose??
 
But the point is they are still scripted. It just isn't printed/typed on paper as the performers likely couldn't read it anyway. Its up to the director to get the performance he/she wants without written dialogue/instructions. Its all done [strike]verbally[/strike]orally

If you look you'll see "I" was answering the quote who called me out on my use of the word "scripted" to refer to non reality shows, as if I thought Reality shows WEREN'T pre-planned lol. I KNOW the diff lol, I was just explaining how MY business refers to each and what the "legal" diff is for unions/pay/etc :-)
 
Because it was on LOGO and had nothing to do with RuPaul and/or a 20 year old rerun of a sitcom, if that's what LOGO only shows now.
 
Is that surprising? That's the stuff that puts the I D I O T in the term idiot box.
 
According to the trailer, it has too much gay things in it.
It is not real life, too much fake acting, therefore boring ....
