Why Do Americans Continue to Deny Climate Change?

I believe in science and that it is nature way to rejenurate the world by rejecting evil vile things, and regrow new species and all that. Nature and climate change is part of the evolution change in us all. Without it, we may breed as all species to extenction. We need better way to grow food, feed everybody and the hungry, find cures, accept spay and nueter of all animals including human, blah just joking on spay and neuter.

^ I'd love for him to fuck me when he's like that.

We have seen a dramatic change on our own farm over 35 years, hotter, drier summers, less snow in winter, more violent weather events.

And of course the increase in raging forest fires destroying millions of acres of cover isn't going to help.

The question isn't if...it is only a matter of when. Maybe this century, maybe into the next...but we are clearly approaching the tipping point of mass extinction of species.

And the answer is simple. Humans love to destroy nature and plunder the planet without having to bear the costs.

But play on. I suspect that the Boomers and the Gen X'ers are happy to ignore.

Did you actually listen to those two talks? If so, could you please summarise them briefly? Which points in particular has he got wrong? When Mallen does a feature on climate change I usually have to rewind and listen to most of it at least twice.

Do you want the FACTS?

Yes, please. By the way, the reason Mallen Baker's channel doesn't have a very big following is because he refuses to adopt the sort of extreme, polarising positions that attract viewers. You know how it is: you've only to look at Hot Topics to see what sort of threads pull in the most views. Why should people have the patience to look at a question rationally and try to work out what's really going on, when they can get such a buzz from throwing stones at an enemy from their entrenched positions?

Enjoy....

After 100 days of record temperatures, the whole of the North Atlantic Ocean reached an average temperature of 23°C yesterday, ten days earlier than ever before.

New climate change effect: more shark attacks.

Actual sharknados can't be too far behind.

The amount CO2 in the atmosphere has risen orders of magnitude higher in 70 years, than it ever has in the previous 800,000 years!

That does not just happen by natural variations of climate.

But if you want to believe a Youtube video has more credibility than literally the best scientists and researchers in the world, fine, that's up to you.

Its hard to take climate change seriously when they ban bags and straws yet they are tearing up woods to built housing developments and shopping centers. This town in south jersey the residents is fighting like hell because they want to tear the woods up and built a warehouse the size of a few football fields.

We also have the wind mills that they believe is killing off sea animals.

Sprawl is one of the reasons that we are doomed.

What it does though is make millions of other people think 'Fuck it'.

If they can do it, so can I. So the logic goes.

Nothing will change climate change, but 99% of people don't care or if they say they do, they still keep consuming and using energy like there's no tomorrow.

When my great nephews are old enough, I want them to understand that we planted tens of thousands of trees, giving up 50% of our farmland for this, to try to offset the imprint we make. And why our farm is organic. And why we don't have a second house, or big boats or any other toys.

That we recycle 95% or more of all waste. And have the most energy efficient HVAC that we can.

That we have largely ceased to travel for biz or for pleasure where we can do the first by ZOOM and the latter by staying home and enjoying where we are.

This year, I have expressed how excited we are to reintroduce beehives and to rethink all our gardens and lawns to suit them and they are already fascinated by the bees.

But I also want them to understand how we have been hypocritical and where we have indulged ourselves so that they hopefully also feel guilt for their utterly first world entitled lifestyle. We're no saints. And I am not going to preach.

Because humans are doomed. And it serves us right. We just need to buy enough time just in case there is a better generation out there.

Although, I don't think there will be.

Gulf stream could collapse between 2025 and 2095, study suggests

"A collapse of Amoc would have disastrous consequences around the world, severely disrupting the rains that billions of people depend on for food in India, South America and west Africa. It would increase storms and drop temperatures in Europe, and lead to a rising sea level on the eastern coast of North America. It would also further endanger the Amazon rainforest and Antarctic ice sheets."

Most folks that I know acknowledge climate change is real, it's the cause that seems to be in dispute.
