  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Why do certain black people say it is impossible for them to be racist?

It's ok to be gay because it's ok to be gay. Taking pride in our gayness doesn't make it ok. Gay is natural.
White pride is used by those who hate blacks. Hating your fellow man over skin color is not natural and is nothing to be proud of.

What do you mean...

Because the people who organise the gay pride parade, invite the straights, queers, neighbours, friends and strangers to join in and be themselves.

But the people who organise the white pride parade keep the guest list short, and then everyone generally reminisces about the "good old days" when the sheriff would help them hide the body.

The key difference here is that the gays are just much better at event planning.

What do you mean...

Something is not ok because you take pride in it. You take pride in something because it's ok or acceptable.
Serial killers might take pride in their trophies, that does not make it ok.
If a type of sexual behavior was not acceptable (need I name any?) just saying that you're proud of it would not make it right.

In any event ethnic pride is stupid.

Oh i dunno. We have a few good caribana parades to celebrate all things Caribbean.

http://www.cariwest.ca
http://www.torontocaribbeancarnival.com

But the people organising those are as good at event planning as the gays! They want the non-carribeans to show up! They want the rest of us to join in the party. The carribeans realise that pointy hats, bad speeches, and ridiculous goose-stepping around shouting like a failed austrian painter with haemorrhoids, do not cut it with modern audiences. We want the steel drums and smiles and costumes that come in more than just white drapey shapeless capes.

Try telling that to the white pride people! They couldn't even organise a popular weenie roast, never mind a whole parade.

I particularly like interethnic festivals.
We have not a bad one in Edmonton, http://www.heritage-festival.com, and Winnipeg has http://www.folklorama.ca. I'm sure most modern cities have them. My favourite might be Gung Haggis Fat Choi, a celebration of the Lunar New Year and Robbie Burns that has taken place most years over the last decade in Vancouver.

So hats off to Chinese Canadians and Scottish Canadians who are also positively gay in their effective event planning skills.

Anyway the common theme is that welcoming people sells tickets, not acting all pissy. Sigh. White Pride. Shaking my head.

Victimhood is now celebrated .

Yeah, my country has a huge range of victims living on taxpayers money and feeling very victimized and want more from the taxpayer because the play victim:##:

It is now a celebration for the activists who speak for victims all over England.

Let's not confuse "playing the victim" with "activism".
A person who clings tightly to their victimhood and uses it as an excuse to live off of the government is not going to take action to end injustice, hell, why ruin your meal ticket?
An activist for a cause will seek to right wrongs, they will demand equality. Be it in employment, housing, education or marriage.

I was a victim (note past tense "was") of child abuse, I now work to end it where I can. I might have had a license to become a non productive member of society, telling my story does not make me a victim, it makes me a survivor.

To turn a blind eye to injustice whether it is because of race, sexuality, gender or age in my opinion is an endorsement of the abuse or wrong.

It means that if you're white, suicide is your best contribution to society.

Well this thread started out in questionable territory and is now well on its way to being a Klan rally.

I just don't get why people let what happened to their dead ancestors (who they'll never met), effect them. I can understand being racist if you've been the victim of it yourself, but if it hasn't, and it only happened to some long gone ancestor, it's time to let it go. Remembering the pain forever, is not going to make it better. Especially if it never happened to you.

Also I can't believe this is a real post either.
