  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Why do gay guys have such awful taste in music?

Obviously this topic was a trolling attempt because trust me, people having bad taste in music is not limited to gay people.

a lot of gay people have made fun of me for my choices and taste in music.

Same here. I've had a lot of people tell me that i'm "self-loathing" and "not gay enough" for liking comedians like George Carlin instead of Kathy Griffin. Apparently, i'm a queen, but afraid to express it.

It's dance music. Gay guys love to dance and be fierce. Do you really expect anything more than a bad ass beat from dance music?

Yeah , I fuckin love me some Britney, Rihanna, and defiantly the Queen Beyonce, but I also listen to Indie Rock, Rock, Acoustic, Jazz etc. etc.

i probably have the worst taste in music. whoop whoop

Yes. Yes you do. :p

*ahem*

If he was talking about club music, he's still wrong to single out gays - the only thing that straight clubs do different is add more rap or trance/europop(depending on the neighborhood). So all these people stating that gays love their shallow pop princesses obviously don't know that straight girls - and yes, sometimes guys - do too, though probably not as deeply(they want a beat they can dance to, too).

This topic bores me now.

Shitney Spears? lol.

(trivia: she's a Republican. Who'd a thunk it?)

typical britney hater talking out of their ass.

She is deemed a Republican because she is from the South and the supporting our President line does not confirm anything. Britney has never stated her Political stance as per what side she is on. She did say she supports gay marriage....that is as close as it gets tho.

I like music that sounds good, I don't care if it is indie or mainstream. I hate people who refuse to listen to mainstream music because they want to be different and such.

Anyone who signs a contract to be backed by a multi- million company will be compromised in some way. I don't care how natural their hair is is or how many incense they burn on stage, if it were solely about art for art's sake they would be at somebody's coffee bar playing for tips. Not everything mainstream is bad, and not everything underground is good.

I listen to a bit of everything. Mainly pop, r&b, grime and hip hop though.

I mean, most gay guys like listening to girly shitty ass pop music. Shitty techno beats and souless, no talent whores dancing with no clothes on. God damn awful music.

UMadBrah?

Why is anyone's taste in music your concern? Why is it such a challenge for you to enjoy your favorite music and allow others to do the same?

Why does anyone have to justify anything to you?

Whoa, horsey! Whoever said I hated Britney? I was just laughing at the "shitney" joke. They used to call Whitney Houston "shitney", too.

I just recently found out Britney was a Republican. I have to admit that that news was a disappointment.

About her music, or her personality? I know very little, certainly not enough to "hate" her.

Ooops sorry !oops!

Why do we always have to say we like "Indie or Rock" right after we say we like dance music? Does it neutralize us or make us cool?

BTW, a lot of Indie and Rock and Jazz is just plain awful.

I agree we shouldn't have to say Indie or Rock after dance music, but I do like those. I was showing my musical diversity.

I enjoy a variety of music. I love music. It is a beautiful thing and it moves people.

I mean I'm sure if you made an album that some people would find it horrendous, and some people would find it perfect.

But my god, I do find it slightly annoying when people think Indie music is above all just because only three people on the planet of heard it. While I enjoy this type of music, just because it isn't 'techno girly' music doesn't mean it is amazing.

It really tangles my whiskers when people complain all they hear is shitty "Dance Music". Nine times out of 10 they are referring to either Lady Gaga or Britney Spears.

.....They don't sing "dance" music. They sing songs you can dance to.

When I start hearing from DJs like Above & Beyond, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Kaskade and artists like Robyn on the radio then people can complain.

Fuck, if you want to criticize my taste in music can you at least bash the right thing?

(I am talking American Radio btw, I know BBC and all across Europe they play actual Dance/Trance/House/Progressive stuff.)

Jan Terri IS dance music!!

I can't help it.

I've been told I have the musical taste of a 14-year old girl.

And apparently I won't outgrow it. I turned 57 this summer.

So I've learned to embrace my inner pop princess. And to pay less attention to what other people say. But also to widen my range of musical listening!
