I've heard before that Homosexuality is considered a threat to straight guys.

I don't really see how gay men threaten straight men.

Could someone how homosexual guys threatens heterosexual guys?

men who are insecure in their own masculinity view homosexuals as a threat.

but there is no threat.

Because no matter how ugly threatened straights are and how repulsive they are, and no matter how long they go between baths, they think all gays want to climb into their soiled underwear, thereby turning them into sex objects, like used condoms.

And haven't straights been doing that to women for centuries?? *|* The truth is that the majority of straights will be more than happy to get their rocks off if they wont get caught regardless who the person is gay or straight.

^ Makes perfect sense, to me. More women for them.

Of course, then they see these neat and tidy homosexuals (on the majority) and think, "Why can't my husband/boyfriend be like him?". Thus, they find they need to clean up their act to live up to the image. Homosexuals (following the not-so-true stereotype) are the way many women want men to be; sensitive, cultured, classy, and intelligent.

I'm totally playing off stereotypes, here, but you get my point.

That is true.. Maybe if we throw some dirt on our knees and leave socks on the floor we'll be more accepted? ( I kinda am like that already tho... ) But maybe that's why I have more straight friends than gay!

I think we're getting somewhere.

They should be happy about us gays.. More women for them.

You know I never understand why most straight men don't think like this. I mean considering how much alot of straight men are. They should really have no problem with us.

Aye, pretty much a combo of the reasons above. Insercurity, and this deap-seated fear that we're going to violate them.

Some guys that are straight would give it up under the right comfortable situation. (sound familiar) This threatens their masculinity. So does dressing better than them, looking better than them, getting a long with their women better than them, etc.

Because they're afraid that a couple of queers will break into their homes and redecorate. It will be way too fabulous for them to handle

You don't think he was talking about?

I heard (or read?) this thing once about three things that explain why straight men are threatened by homosexuality; one of them was a fear of being female (there's apparently a deep-seated psychological terror of being considered female because women are apparently "weak", I've seen many women who could beat the hell out of me both physically and mentally). I can't remember the other two for the life of me, but I remember it was a fascinating... thing.

Man I'm curious if you ever remember the other 2 reasons pm me or something okay?

Because they know they're a threat to women. :)

The predators do not like becoming the prey.

Well, plus you have to understand the ego of a lot of the str8 guys out there...

They're convinced that every gay man that looks at them wants to fuck them.
As if we want to sleep with every man that we see.

This both fuels their ego's and makes them uncomfortable at the same time.

So, 'uncomfortable' equals 'threat'. They don't mind being lusted after, but any thought of taking one up the gipper freaks them out.

I think they're threatened psychologically. It's some kind of affront to how they see themselves. They assume all gay men bend over and take it up the ass. Play the woman. Men aren't supposed to be submissive so this feels like a threat to their idea of masculinity. The more insecure they are about their own sense of what it means to be a man - the more they get freaked.

To me, a threat is something you're afraid from that is going to harm you.

That's just funny because harming/hurting its the opposite of what a homosexual wants to do to a straight man.

I have asked this question to some of my straight friends. These are some of their responses:

- Some men are insecure in their masculinity or unable to deal with same sex fantasies (not that uncommon among adolescents)
- Others are raised in homophobic families/societies that see homosexuality as a threat. This is, in some degree, not too different from racism or xenophobia.
- Some guys are, consciously or subconsciously, afraid to express affection to another guy. They might end up perceiving the display of same sex affection as a threat.
- We shouldn't forget the small percentage of men that have been abused at any age. A few develop homophobia while others are able to overcome the experience. The "I fondle a guy while sleeping" stories don't have a happy ending (even though newboy12 and other posters might disagree...)
