I made a comment to a friend that I didn't like 'The L word'. He assumed I didn't like it because I hate women. He actually told a female co-worker this. I don't like 'The L Word' because I couldn't get into the show, try as I might. It had nothing to do with the cast being female at all.

Also, this has to be one of the cattiest straight men I've ever met. Has nothing to with my comment. Just thought I'd throw it in

Well, duh. Everybody hates women. Except lesbians, they love 'em.

Gay men hate women.
Straight men hate women.
Women hate women.

I'm the male equivalent of a man-hating bull-dyke.

But seriously: I've spoken to straight men who were FAR more gossipy, bitchy, promiscuous and immature than ANY gay man i've ever spoken to. I was completely shocked.

I think hate is a very strong word. While it's true that many gay men do not like women, that doesn't mean they hate them. A lot of straight guys I've known think that gay men hate women because that's what they want to believe. They can't accept the fact that gay men and straight women in particular, can have great friendships that are totally plutonic. Straight women and/or Lesbians are simply not sexually "threatened" by gay men. A lot of straight guys are very jealous of that because a woman is a sex object to them. To a gay guy, a woman is not a sex object, she is just a person. That doesn't "compute" with a lot of heterosexual males and they resent it. The generalization that all of us hate women is their response to that resentment.

As simplistic as you've put it, I think that you're right on here.
Men like men but women don't like women. At least that is what I've noticed.
Men don't like women compared with how they feel towards another male. Men look up to other men, they seek other male companionship, they can easily live without women. Curious.

Actually, straight people have a stereotype about gay men: That we all have tons of female friends and get along with them perfectly, since we're feminine too. A lot of straight girls love having gay friends, too.

There are many stereotypes but its true that gay men can be quite misogynistic sometimes.

I think it has to do with a weak sense of chivalry (for me at least). As a small, scrawny gay man I feel less inclined to be nice to them.

Some people are just too messy for their own good. Male and female.

On a side note, I hate when a woman wants to be friends with me only because I'm gay. I've literally had girls I don't even know like that tell me they want me to be their "gay best friend." Just because we both like dick doesn't mean we have much more in common than that.

I don't get that assumption either...but I just go on letting some people be stupid. #-o

What's even more irritating are the hets who think gay guys are afraid of women. Like literally afraid.

Just because they don't make our dicks hard doesn't mean they intimidate us. Gawd...some people have enough stupid to give away.

Well not all of us at any rate....

Throwing my man panties at the stage right now.

To paraphrase Jennifer Esposito in "Just One Time" why do I hate them? I don't sleep with them so why would I hate them?

I don't know, I respect and love my female friends :) and I haven't found yet one who smell like stinky fish.

Well, I love women! Women tend be more easy-going from my experience. I don't really get along with men in general...gay or straight. Most men have superiority complexes and can be very condescending.

Because some gay men hate women and we all get the stigma from them. Personally, I don't get mysogynist people---if they're so mysogynistic, they should've hung themselves for being a product from a male and female.

Makes sense! I've began wondering if some of straight men's hatred towards gay men comes from a bit of jealousy because gay men often have "hot" (in their eyes) female friends and many str8 women seem to naturally gravitate to gay men for some reason. You don't meet too many women that are homophobic or hate gay men unless they are a religious nut bag.

I think the gay guys who chase straight guys further this idea.

I mean, in that respect, women would be competition and a lot of gay guys might have some resentment towards women as a consequence. Women tying down "curious" men in marriage, family, etc. Women as taking away viable prospects in partners.

Totally speculation and supposition on my part, but perhaps a possibility as a contributing factor.
