Why do people own pets?

Because I have someone to snuggle with when I have no one to snuggle with at night.

Talking about cats,
my Iranian housemate don't like cats in the house because he said they leave fur all over the place.

Because there's way too many animals in this world, and it's a pity that they'd have to live a miserable life without someone to take care of them.

Life is temporary. We all have to die sometime, so all we can do is try and make the most of the time that we have. Dogs and cats may not live as long as we do, but it's still a life time for them.

Indeed. My oldest cat, Boots (the mother of my youngest cat), first appeared in the back parking lot eating day-old bread which I used to buy to feed the birds. I figured that she must have been practically starving to eat stale bread. I bought her some food and it was almost 2 weeks before I could get her to trust me enough to eat out of my hand and to let me pet her. I fed her every day.

That was also the time of one of the coldest winters on record. It took a long time to coax her to come inside, but she was terrified and practically climbed up the door to get outside again. However, she eventually learned that it was safer and warmer inside the apartment than outside and eventually adopted. She's spayed now, as is Samwise. I hate to think of where she would be now if I hadn't seen her that day, and I often wonder what life would be like if I didn't have the cats for company.

That's what this is for.

If you keep them brushed, you won't see all the hair.

Who would pass this love up just because our animal companions don't live as long as we do?

I can't have cats anymore. Found out that I'm allergic. :( And now that I'm in a place mentally to get a dog, the complex where I live doesn't allow pets.

Our dog brings us both so much pleasure, he is sassy, clever, and can pull off the puppy dog eyes like a pro.

He has the ability to sense our moods and act accordingly. The "love" and affection he heaps on us is genuine, all he wants back is to be a part of the family/pack.

He is protective towards G and i, as well as being the most loyal dog. And he really does have a wicked sense of humour.

We are not stupid, we know that he will die in the next few years. Will we cry and feel bereft? Yes. We will also have the memory's of our fun life together. The pain of loss is worth the memory of Mayson
