It's your decision, if you want to convert.
For you a rather painful decision... you could call that comment a snip.
Then, you would have to give up a cool holiday like Christmas for Hanukka. Then there's the Sabbath depending on how devout you are from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday you would have to give a lot up, Friday night is for most gay guys a rather active evening.
Of course you could play with your dradle.

As for the hate, various reasons, humans hate those that are different. Some of the things that I mentioned above would make you different, like walking to synagogue on Friday evening.
I knew a boy that was in a boy's school with me, on his first day there when we all changes into our pajamas and had our evening devotional we would get down on our knees and recite the Lords Prayer, this boy sat still and stared straight ahead. He was confronted by staff in front of all of us and asked why he did not participate, he told them that he was a Jew.

The other boys acted quite upset and planned on kicking hiss ass, such a nice Christian attitude.

The list goes on, Christ killers, cheapskates, bankers with all of the money.
The one thing that I think that bugs folks the most; they are successful, they study, work hard and stick together.

Well, the most comfortable way "to get in" would be to tie the knot with a Jewish girl, but if this isn't an option, then it's much more complicated.

If you're not going to be religious, I wouldn't bother.

It's apparently more of a cultural thing nowadays with most Jews than a religious thing, since Jews are an ethnic group.

You can't convert ethnicities right? I say just marry a Jewish guy, participate in the festivities with ones who accept you, and call it a night.

My late friend married a Jewish guy. Aside from there being some stigma of a gay couple in a synagogue, regardless of how accepting the majority there are, I still got the impression he was the goy that their friend married.
