Why do so many gays like the show Mad Men?

I've never seen it before but I've heard a lot of gay people especially who love this show. I know it's been on for a little while now and i was considering starting from the beginning. Can anyone briefly explain the gay appeal, if any?
 
I've never seen the show, but I do know there is a closeted gay character. That might in part, be why.
 
I tried my best to get through it because it's so critically acclaimed but it's definitely not my kind of show.

Where did you hear it was such a big draw for gay men? This is the first I'm hearing about it.
 
I have seen several threads on it here and several different websites but i never check them out. Or when i did they would talk about something obscure. then on the bravo awards it won up against several gay-interest shows. SO i was wondering what about it is appealing to gay people. If there was some gay character or story or something.
 
It's the 60s chic, I think, the look of the guys and all those cigarettes and scotches.

Jon Hamm is so handsome and so sexy and commanding... the show is really good too... but I really started watching it because of him... and he looks so hot with that "facial hair".... his hairy body is so sexy
 
I started a Mad Men thread about a year ago, and it died a pretty quick death:(

The first episode was good, but not great. I felt the same way at first. Trust me, you have to keep on watching. Each episode gets better and better.

Yes, Jon Hamm is fucking hot. That scruffy picture does not capture his extreme fineness on the show...


Rich Sommer and Aaron Staton are pretty cute too.

I think the dvd set comes out July 1st FYI.
