why do the good people die young

and we heard the news about River Phoenix
that freaked me out

and yesterday heath ledger he was too young to go

...and we are left here to remember them. It's not an easy lot for us. But they continue to live through our memories of them. As long as we don't forget them, they continue to live on in our hearts and minds. And for those in movies and film, the works they left behind will always be there to help us remember them at their best.

Isn't that the truth, PeTe?! Or so it seems... I guess when someone in their 80's happens to die, we don't think too much of it; they had a long life, etc. But when someone young dies, it leaves us feeling vulnerable and forces us to face our own mortality. It's always a shock...

It's too bad we don't know the answer to that question, at least not in this life. Who knows what happens when we die, but i hope we get to find the answers to the questions unavailable here.
Of course it's sad when people die young, we will forever wonder the "what if's". But is the value of a life based it's length, or what they did in their time? Heath left behind an impressive body of work, especially Brokeback Mountain, which obviously touched people. Millions of people. That's something most people will never achieve in 100 years.

I think that the truth is not a pretty answer and we don't want to see what is obvious because it is not pretty....that is why most humans hold onto religion so dearly. And I understand that becuase it can make life easier to believe something even if it is probably not true. A big part of me wishes that I could grip onto beliefs that cannot be proven...but the logical side of me will not allow it.

life is not fair and it can even be cruel and painful sometimes

life does not wait for us to complete what we want to complete

we just have to do the best we can with what we have to do/accomplish/experience the things that we want to do in life. I'm not trying to be negative. I'm just trying to be realistic.

Life is short...carpe diem! And that does not mean to be reckless about it...approach it intelligently. We all have that capability.

Five, of my six closest friends have all died in various ways. All of them 21 or less. I have been to way too many funerals, I don't think I can handle another. Most of them I would consider very good people, much better than myself. I don't get it. If there is a god, I think he's a sadistic asshole.

For whatever reason people die whether young or old we, it is def something we will never understand, I used to take life for granted big time til January 20th of last year. I had a seizure and literally my body stopped for 5min. after that I look at life in a very different way. We can only live our life to the extent of what it may be, and know that each one of us is leaving an impact on others, like many have in the past and present.

to answer your question we will never, never know the true answer.
Only advice I can offer is live life to the fullest. thats all
