I recently came across the Active Duty site, and was amazed at a couple of things: 1) how incredibly handsome these guys are and 2) Why in the world would these guys do what they are doing? I realize some sites advertising "straight" guys really feature guys who are anything but (e.g. Sean Cody Bait Bus, etc) , but the Active Duty guys seem like the real deal. I know the obvious answer is money, but c'mon. I saw a movie-star handsome guy named Luke sucking dick, fucking and getting fucked in a scene that is all over the internet FOREVER. I don't care how much money they're paying, this scene will come back to bite these guys in the ass somewhere down the line. Don't get me wrong....I love that they did the scenes, but I don't understand why they did it.

Well, I can't speak for EVERYONE here, but most people who do porn for a living are also escorts, strippers, etc. . .so the adult industry IS their career and they don't really care about trying to find a decent job somewhere else.

I guess they like doing porn, or the money. I think if I was in actual Active Duty with all the risk and pain involved it'd put porn in perspective as not such a big deal though.

I don't believe any "straight guys" in gay porn are really straight. And the "first timers" who never have the slightest bit of trouble taking massive porn dicks up the ass "for the first time"... When you truly become comfortable about your sexuality, then if something is naturally hot, it's just naturally hot and the gender is irrelevant. There's no neurotic or egoic attachment suffering.
'Straight' guys when they find a relationship with woman, if they do, somebody they really like, they don't sit there and go 'ooh I'm so straight I'm proud of being str8 in this str8 relationship.' They've just found somebody that they fancied. And the same damn goddamn thing could have easily happened with another man.

*sigh* No, if there was a thing as actual heterosexuality or 'straightness' he wouldn't be able to even get hard to fuck you. The truth is , he found you attractive, and you found him attractive too, so you both fucked. There are other ways for money. To answer the original question: There's no one reason why.
Here are some of the reasons I believe...
1.) They don't want to actually go through with a full fledged homosexual act so flirting is a safe way of engaging in homosexual "sex" with a man, without actually suffering what they see as consequences.
2.) They want to see if you're gay. If you respond, Bingo.
3.) They are, in fact, bisexual and will follow through with it.
4.) They may be so deeply closeted, even with themselves, that flirting is a compulsion they can't stop. In other words, they have the gay impulses and are not truthful with themselves about it and very repressed. The repression can't kill the urge and so they find themselves playing flirting games with everyone. It's their inner sexuality screaming to get out. These types are the least likely to actually act further. The flirt is where it stays. (I painfully experienced one of these types.)
5.) They may be narcissistic and as an ego boost need you to be into them. So they play you.
Bottom line: If a seemingly straight man is flirting with you, do not automatically believe that anything is going to happen. If you want it to, then go for it, but do NOT waste time if it doesn't happen. If it doesn't happen right away when you respond, then you are being played. (If somebody had told me this I would have spared myself two years of pain, pain, pain. And then a few years after that of recovering from the pain.)
