I start going to gym recently. The reasons are that 1) I want to keep health ( I usually run outside in the summer); 2) I wanna gain a little bit shape so clothes look good on me. Mostly, I do it to make myself feel good and not just for being attractive. To me, good personality is the most attractive thing.

You guys go to gym often?

I don't go to a gym due to the cost and travel distance. I work out and exercise at home.

I like my obliques and ass and being able to eat whatever I want. Plus, my skin really cleared up when I started going to the gym in high school (don't know how that worked but it did).

I used to love going to the gym and doing weight-resistance training because it made me feel good (and look good).

Now that I'm on doctor's orders to go regularly, my enthusiasm is much less.
Perhaps because over the course of time the results needed the addition of cardio, and the treadmill is so, so, SOOO boring! :grrr:
If I can read (i.e. the gym has some new magazines around) then even the treadmill is bearable. But it still takes up more time than when I was in my early 20s.

I've been going regularly for the last 2 years. Where else could you see a bunch of hot guys in the locker room, open shower stalls & the steam room? Oh...it also keeps me in shape...but that's not my priority

I personally don't go to the gym because it's expensive and I'm weird. I don't like being sweaty in front of people. I know this is irrational and everyone else is sweaty and gross and won't be looking at me but I just don't like the idea of someone seeing me at my grossest. I also don't wanna look stupid for doing something wrong. I also don't like public showers or change rooms lol. So it is for all these reasons that I workout at home. :D

I can't afford a gym membership. This sucks even more because I felt like running tonight and its goddamn freezing outside.

I just do a variety of crunches, pushups and exercises with dumbells at home.

I feel weird working out in front of others anyway. Plus I'm super skinny right now and I'd probably feel self-conscious at the gym and people wouldn't think I know what I'm doing.

I would like to do more yoga though, but yoga classes are often more expensive than a gym membership.

You people are aware that planet fitness is only $10 a month?

I should just get my internet shut off and use that money towards a gym membership.

Would I be more or less likely to meet men that way?

Many gyms have a start-up fee before that monthly fee that seems like such a good deal.
I typically see them in the $75-100 range without contracts.

i started going to the gym because i had a customer at work point out that i had gained weight. i also knew that i needed to start getting in shape for band, because the practice is grueling. now that im going, i dont mind the burning sensation of muscles, and its a good stress relief. i just have to force myself to spend a decent amount of time there, otherwise im not there for very long. the eye candy is a plus, if i can get in there when there is eye candy to be seen. most of the time when i go its later in the night, and there arent many people there to begin with.

is that on going? that is a great deal.

Yes. I think I had to pay a fee when I first registered but then I believe it's $10 every month. The gym I go to is pretty nice. The showers are nasty but I shower at home. Everything else is nice and they make everyone wipe down the equipment after each use.
I think there is also a fee of $30 when a new year starts.

I took the $20 membership because I can bring a friend and use any location...with the $10 one you can only use one location.

This. I love my Planet Fitness membership.

I try to go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week--depending on how motivated I'm feeling. I go to stay thin, and mostly stick to cardio exercise. I like being able to eat whatever I want without gaining weight and doing cardio lets me do that without dieting.

I go because I wanna be big. I can bench like 200+ at the moment. I wanna bench 300+ though.

No Gym for me.

I work Retail. :D

Before this, I did Construction/Handyman work.

My legs don't BEGIN to fit in skinny jeans, and there's no fat on them.

Even my beer gut is going away, without trying. Since my new job in September I've lost 20 pounds but have gained arm muscle back.

illy,

sucking at the gym or picking people up and
sucking does not count as a workout or as a
lifting session. Sorry laddy...try again.

I go because I've been going since I was 14. It's part of my life.

I go because it makes me feel good physically.
I go because it makes me strong.
I go because it makes me fast.
I go because it makes me look good.

If I didn't go to the gym, I'd be finding other intense physical activities to do.

Yup, I go three times a week.

It's good for me. Apparently.
