We don't. But the people who believe that the Bible tells them it's an 'abomination' do.

gsdx,
Yours is truly an excellent response to this issue.
You are right, we don't, especially the gay and lesbian and bisexual men and women. But here in the USA it is not so much Biblical fundamentalism or something so benign, it is the political movements on the rightwing who like to tell people it is protected in the Constitution to keep control of homosexuals. Some of them are biblical literalists and fundamentalists, others are just nut cases.
Dress up like George Washington and go to a Tea Party Gathering and oppose gay marriage and anything so terrible.

But in fact many people and schools do a good job of teaching acceptance (not tolerance) and about what the nature of hosexuality and lesbianism is really about. We are making progress, but it is in the larger segments of society in the mainstream middle. I call them the silent majority.

I also think it's important to consider scientifically, we're made to be Male + Female. In the sense, that through evolution or religon, to reproduce we have to have that Male + Female combination.

A world of homosexuality is fundamentally, the extinction of man kind.

Hmmm, anti-gay much,Undertaken? The world will always be full of heteros, bisexuals and homos. Procreation will never be extinct, even in homosexual societies.

I mean, I hate all people equally, but he makes a point... it's biology.
However, fuck biology, we have test tubes.

My friends with children don't shield them from me, because they know my character.

People "shield" their children from homosexuality because they view it as something evil. The same way they would shield their children from drugs or strangers with candy.

The reason ? Well, there are many. It's a combination of fear, ignorance, religion and the sneaking suspicion that "gay" is something you can catch like the flu.

In our culture, it's doubtful that this will change in our lifetimes.

But in ours kid's kid's lifetimes, this may just happen.

I think this ignorance depends entirely upon space and experience, doesn't it? My straight friends with kids have no problems with their children interacting and understanding about non-straight, queer folk. They treat all people with equal respect and demand the same from their kids. There have always been acccepting people, and there have always been ignorant fucks. There's nothing much new in this, and as the population explodes in less sophisticated regions the ignorance will always stay ahead of the enlightenment.

But parents would have to explain it like they love to do about "Sex Education"God forbid they explain any of it

I'll never understand this unfounded belief that exposure to sexuality will somehow harm children. One of the few things done right in my upbringing was that I was never, ever, shielded from sex or told it was wrong. If there was sex in a movie or on tv, I was never sent out of the room (for violence, though, often).

I would say that the majority of people in my local area, Southeast US, still think that homosexuality is a choice rather than a biological disposition. So, by shielding the kids from all information about homosexuality, the parent take that choice away from the kids. Homosexuality is thought around here to be guarantee damnation and not a natural lifestyle by the majority IMO.
