The first time I heard the word "Breeder" used" as a insulting term to people who wanted to have children by Childfree goons. I never heard it used referring to straight people until I came here.

So, why do you call straight people breeders?

my straight friends don't normally like they term. I think, historically, it has been used because gay people have been told time and time again how our lives mean nothing and are unnatural because we do not reproduce and that is what life is all about. So the term breeders was used....at least that is what I understood it to come from.

From Wikipedia:

Breeder is a slang term (either joking or derogatory) used to describe heterosexuals, primarily by homosexuals. It is drawn from the fact that homosexual sexual activity cannot lead to reproduction, whereas heterosexual sex can, with implicit mocking by connotation of animal husbandry, the original usage of the word.[1][2]

"Breeder" can also be used as a derogatory term by childfree people of any sexual orientation to refer to parents who focus on their children and abandon their previous friends and lifestyle, or to women who give birth to many children. The phrases "breeder, not parent" (BNP) or "parent, not breeder" (PNB) are used by some childfree communities to differentiate between positive and negative parenting

Do you guys remember that story about heterosexual people claiming harrasement because of their sexual orientation in West Hollywood I believe. Apparantly, people on the street would just call them breeder, or at parties I guess. It was something along those lines.

Because gays fail to find something really insulting to heterosexuals.

Discrimination was the word I was looking for. The straights in West Hollywood were claiming harrasement and discrimination for their sexual orientation.

I think it's silly that us gays would try to turn things on straights by using that word and also that any straight person would take much offense to that word.

Yeah, it's just a childish tit-for-tat response for when straights call gays a derogatory name.

But isn't that the human story? You insult me, I insult you, we both hate each other, and we all make a big mess out of life. *Sigh* I don't know what to say.

because it's fucking hilarious. and I like laughing.

especially at people who's whole lives revolve around getting married way too young, and having child after child.. further overpopulating the world with little shits, for the glory of their goddddd see for example that crazy family with 17 kids or whatever, the one where all their names start with J hahahahaha

I don't call anyone breeder unless I am joking because that term is so silly, I fail to see how it would be taken offensively.

I guess I will foil would-be straight haters when I'll laugh hysterically at them for calling me a "breeder."

Seriously.....that's weak. You might as well be calling me a poopy-head. :p

Well, as much as I hate when heterosexuals call us homosexuals <pick your hate word here>, I have always disliked the use of that word "breeder" as an insult.

Why? because it puts me at the same level of those insulting me. And at least I can avoid that.

(But that's just me).

My term of endearment is knuckle dragging breeders to describe the dumb as a stick hoi polloi who think that because his sperm met her egg that they are entitled to an exalted status among mortals., when usually they are two genetically defective, illiterate, red neck conservative yahoos who only think like whut their daddy told 'em.

But I don't call all heteros breeders any more than I'd call all Republican's idiots.

The namecalling seems childish to me. And I think people who actually take care of their children deserve some respect. It's a hard job.

In my circle, a breeder is a derogatory name for someone who chooses to have a family over a great career. The rest of us young profs smirk at them. The breeder is the person who can't work late hours, won't skip out on holidays w/ the fam, has to call home every other hour to let the spouse know that they'll be late, dislikes traveling for work, etc all b/c they have to run home to their families. Breeders clutter their desks w/ pictures of their children and brag and brag about how precious their little Joshy and Annie are. They're disgusting and will never climb the ladder. Anyone can be a breeder--gay, straight, bi, curious, whatever.

I didn't realize that gay people called straight people breeders until I joined JUB.

Same with me, and I find it strange as hell. Do they call infertile straight people breeders? Cause that would be a laugh.

Because it's funny. It tickles us to take something straight people feel is perfectly normal and turn it into a jab. What makes it really funny is when they actually take offense. . .

You actually know someone who was offended? Are you sure that they didn't just giggle and go on w/ their day?
