I have totally heard straight people call others breeders, the sentiment isn't only based on sexuality

And I think people who actually take care of their children deserve some respect. It's a hard job.

And there's the point. A breeder doesn't actually take care of their children. The state does, the schools are expected to, television is expected to; sometimes the breeders even have nannies. There are huge numbers of parents out there that are so disconnected from the person that was born to them once the most minimal rearing is complete, they are no different than most of the animals around our farm.

The parents that I don't refer to as breeders do take care of their own children, not just by throwing at them everything that they may materially desire, but by forming them into independent, well educated, well rounded adults possessing a moral compass and good work and play ethics. They don't breed just to collect the child benefits or to fill some selfish need of their own to possess a child the same way they would a new boat or purebred dog.

By the way, I have more respect for the livestock we breed than for those who think that spitting out babies without being able to feed, clothe and love them is their right and then spend all their free time screaming about how homos marrying will destroy western civilization.

So, sorry, I'll just hang onto my term of endearment for breeders. Childish or not, sometimes it just fits so well. Fortunately we have folks like you to call us out.

I think, historically, it has been used because gay people have been told time and time again how our lives mean nothing and are unnatural because we do not reproduce and that is what life is all about. So the term breeders was used....at least that is what I understood it to come from.
