Why do young people think it's cool to smoke?

It's a disgusting habit.....let alone very unhealthy...

I think most young people think it's an adult thing to do. By them smoking they are basically saying "I want to be all grown up like mummy and daddy, NOW!" but invariably they just end up looking like juvenile tossers who smell worse than they usually do.

The real tragedy is that smoking is so glamorized with every actor in TV and movies, especially in movies, smoking to his/her heart's content. It is obvious that we fantasize and about actors and entertainment industry and start smoking. I do not smoke but I do like guys who smoke cigars sometimes, they look so classy

Because it does make them look cool. Unfortunately, that coolness comes at a cost that isn't really worth it. As usual, life isn't fair.

I think they do it because it makes them look baad. Meaning, if they smoke, they might do other baad things. That's another type of cool, isn't it? As for me, I was always alienated and paranoid, so peer pressure was not a problem. I never smoked and have no plans to start. My mother claims she smoked a little when she was a teenager and I think she may have sneaked a smoke through the years. But not very often because my sister and I would be all over her for it.
Why do gay men like to smoke? I never did but many in my local area do. Not very attractive to me. And what about the fantasy of cigars and pipes with bears and furry men? I really like the bears and furry men but can do without the smoking.

I LIKED it too.......but it got to where I couldn't afford to send $450 + a month up in smoke....... .......besides the other related dangers.......

I'm not a fan of smoking... my brother smokes, however. I think almost all of the people I know who smoke tobacco either started as a way to strengthen their marijuana high or as a drunken social act.
