I will admit Mariah Carey is not what she used to be, it now seems that she has become so ghetto to try and appeal to some of my generation and the generation after me. She was very talented back in the day. Well she somewhat still is and her latest album Is one of my faves but its missing some of her talent from back in the day. I notice that when a black artist becomes big the American music industry butchers up all the success they have ever made little by little to suck money out of their career and most of the people that do this are the record labels.
I LOVE Leona Lewis and I will bet this forum any money that once she gets an even stronger base in America, they are gonna have her doing duets with all these tacky rappers/hip hop artists and then have her come off as some ghetto street trash. They are totally gonna fuck up every bit of talent that shines from her right now. They are doing it to Mariah Carey and others. They will continue to keep doing it! The labels don't care if its talent or not, they want money. Its all about SELL SELL SELL!!! Beyonce was heading down that path but she kept some of her control, so for that I greatly admire Beyonce she will always be a prize winner in MY book.
Not only do I find it offensive towards the history of music and hardcore music fans, but offensive to the black community. I've heard so many rappers complain how they grew up in a shitty life and how someone mistreated them and god knows what. Then they get famous and rap shit that has no meaning or shit just to get attention and after they complain how evil the world is, they do NOTHING about it. They don't give money back to the ghetto they grew up in or money to causes into helping minorities or troubled youth. They go home and count their money and don't care how their lyrics and "songs" influence young teens. I have nothing against rap there is some positive rap out there, just not what is mainstream right now on billboard. The rap today is heavily degrading to the black community which portrays them in music videos as thugs. Or the music videos can be degrading to women as well. Have any of you seen these women shaking their asses half naked in music videos?
Anyway, artists that become big and famous due to talent and hard work eventually get handed off to big producers who fuck up their career in the long run and control EVERY move they make and when they collapse, their record label won't be there for them.
