Why does everyone change their name here?

After reading an old thread and realizing KarenWalker's true identity, I began to wonder.

Do they expressly want to confuse me?

Are these people in witness protection?

Why do they sometimes delete their account and come back with a new name and sometimes just get a new name and keep their post count?

Does one have to ask a mod for a name change?

What pleasure does one derive from this?

I'm thinking of changing my username back to Swiffer WetJet, because I want to put a picture of my new piercing in my avatar. Having a picture of a big ol' pierced dick right below a female name would be more than some people on here could handle.

I've done a name change once. When I registered I couldn't think of anything so I just put something there. It was a name I didn't really have any connection to and it didn't really mean anything. I gave it time but it didn't "grow on me" either. It had to be changed.
