Because guys love sex. Women control how often guys have sex, and are shamed for having it too often, but there's no such thing with men. Straight men probably be sluts, too if women were willing to go on hook-up lines, use gloryholes etc.

It's because we're MEN. Men need sex, way more than women, so it seems like gay guys are sluttier than str8 guys or sluttier than girls, because you're putting 2 MEN together. FACT.

This is also why it's way more common for a str8 guy to fuck another dude in the ass or let another dude give him a blowjob just to get off than it would be for a str8 girl to have sex with another girl just to have an orgasm. Girls can wait, their sex drive is low. But not guys, we have to have sex. ALL. THE. TIME.

Something like that. In fact I have a cousin who, as a junior in high school, told me that guys blowing each other was no big deal, just something friends did for each other when one couldn't get a chick to lay down for him.

Now on the other side, according to Divine Command, these absolutes are put forth by God. In this case absolutism would work.. however I personally do not believe in an all powerful God, and so this theory doesn't really register much in my thinking.

I've always had my doubts about absolute moral commands coming from a deity -- seems to me any deity worth the claim is going to want us to learn to use our brains.

R. Baumeister, Prof., investigated the cultural supression of sexuality in females as well as the search for belonging and the influence of these over female sexual expression, and there is a difference between showing the ability of male dominated society to control overt female sexual participation and actual female sexual experience.

Maybe two years ago I read a summary of a report (out of Britain, I think) on a study of women in Western culture choosing men to have children with, as opposed to choosing men to raise their children with (if anyone knows about this I would love for you to remind me of the referencing details). Even this summary spoke to the increasing admittance of women who no longer have dependence on their male partner that the children they raised were often by men other than the man who helped to raise them. And this still doesn't address directly the sexual experience or desire of women.

As for women's magazines: I do read them periodically to use in class and find them to be entirely constructed in an effort to maintain a circle within female (mostly adolescent) society that also happens to line the pockets of the publishers and editors/contributors. That is, they perpetuate myths regarding the failures of women to develop to their full potential and provide the reader with the 'answers' to that failure, which in fact undermine and make the (female) reader subject to patriarchal society.

Even when women want to become pregnant, there is (if I remember rightly) increasing awareness that they can and do choose more than one highly suitable partner. But I was actually simply talking about people sleeping around, and there is much anecdotal evidence to help even blind Freddy see that women sleep around, and always have, just as much as men, given social freedom of expression.

^ I still think it comes down to the repressed young homos who haven't come to feel comfortable with the joy of their sexuality who seem to want to impose some 1950's fantasy notion about dating, going to the prom and then not letting your boyfriend get past second base until there is a ring on your finger.

Of course a voracious appetite for different sexual partners isn't emotionally healthy over the long term and there are also the sexually addicted and the sexual sociopaths who prefer quantity over quality.....but to clutch the pearls and imply that having recreational sex with multiple partners as part of the exploration process that can lead to finding a life-long partner (or not) is somehow morally degraded or 'wrong' is to imply a superior position of the sexually repressed or unwillingly abstinent that is not deserved or even laudable.

It is why I think if we devalued the pejorative connotation around slut and just embraced it instead, we'd be a lot better off again.

There are alot of gay men that were in the closet and now there out and that means sexual freedom. I have been in relationships with men, and want to fuck other men, just like st guys cheating on their wives, theres no difference, who said being gay means having one guy, thats why its called sexual freedom. When you meet someone set some ground rules first, but the selection might get small, Otherwise enjoy what you can and maybe your soulmate will come one day.
