Why does The First Spouse get a Staff?

Yes because google is the know all.

I prefer not to believe everything I see.

It not about just getting information, its about getting the correct information.
Google knows nothing. You type something into google to get the know all.

No, you type something into google to get what it gives you. Right or not. Biased or not.
Yep, and once you get your search results, time for you to decide what you want to believe and not believe.

In truth though, usually only the best searches make the front page of Google.

No the ones that get looked at the most do.

The point is we shouldn’t have to dig for days to find basic information.

Basiclly you argument comes down to you are happy to accept what info is give. My argument is to always want more and not to trust what is given freely. Both of are arguments have very large cons.

Not really. Google's algorithm and determination of front page is a lot more complicated then that.

And I am satisfied. The First Lady isn't my concern, and I expect her to have a staff. If she does something stupid, it will be caught, and hopefully dealt with.

I also expect it will be paid for by the tax payer. Anything she does as first lady is on the behalf of the american people so to say, so if I like the women, I don't really care.

And she spends a millions dollars on them. That is insanely cheap considering the government she is first lady of.

so if I like the women, I don't really care.

Thats is kind of the point. How do you really know you like them?

Out of sight, out of mind. I prefer not to dumb myself down like that.

Its also good to know you as well only care when its the other side.

I thought I already explained why I like them?

Just because you aren't satisfied with the news on them doesn't mean I am not.

From what I saw on the news and internet, I like Michelle Obama.

Hey!

Regarding electing a President, you have to remember what you are voting FOR.

You are basically voting for the CEO of probably the Planet's Largest and Most Influental Company, namely, CEO of The United States of America (Inc.). Besides voting on his/her potential policy decisions and directions, you are voting for his/her Management Skills.

The Job of the President is pretty much akin to herding Cats. And I want a good Cat Herder in that job.

Really, now, do you think the President of ANY large organization actually sits at his/her HUGE desk and really comes up with the Budget? The voters don't get to vote for Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Budget Director, Chief of Staff, etc. So no, we don't get to vote for the First Lady either.

Part of the package is what the CEO is bringing. In this case we're talking about a First Spouse. So no, we don't get to elect Her, either. And she should get a staff. The Secretary of Defense is not elected either, and I believe the DoD Budget is a teeny bit larger than the FLOTUS budget. :D

Apples and oranges. The SOD is an employee, while the first lady is not. He is appointed to manage one of the government's largest agencies, while the first lady is not.

I'm not arguing that she shouldn't have a staff, but there's no real equivalent in the rest of the government.

True, and that's my point. The First Lady's (unpaid) job is also HUGE and a couple of million bucks in supporting her is a drop in the bucket.

It is a matter of comparing Cost vs. Benefit.

Consider the cost of having Mrs. Obama stay upstairs for four years and tend to vacuuming the carpet and walking Bo. We'd have to hire a minimum of six more employees, including Special Liaison to the President, Special Scheduling Coordinator to the President, Special Sexual Counselor to the President, and on and on.

The First Lady's (someday perhaps First Gentleman's) job is one HELL of a bargain to the taxpayer. So I don't mind paying a cent or two to finance the position. I'd even pay 10 cents more. It is a good deal and we should worry about more important things.
