  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

why don't all blacks support gays?

:corn: :corn: :corn:

And I swear prior to today, I wasn't even aware that ALL blacks didn't support gays. I guess my parents and the people in my neighborhood must be from some other alien race. Silly me!

find where I said "all blacks didn't support gays." exactly, i didn't say that.

instead of reading a topic title and posting, take 2 minutes and read the thread, you may learn something.

I would never want to force anyone to believe in anything they don't want to, but if one minority is facing discrimination shouldn't all all other minorities be concerned, whether they agree the that group's lifestyle or not? Equal rights is equal rights and it should be all, I don't understand how someone could justify picking and choosing who deserves equality and who doesn't. Or am I being too hippy dippy? :(

I absolutely agree :=D:

seems pretty logical to me. usually "equal rights" means just that, equal rights. but apparently some people are not able to understand this. blacks need to understand that by supporting gay rights they are eliminating another layer of prejudice from society, which is really the bigger picture.

In all do respect he did not say that lol..... He said why don't all blacks support gays.... Meaning some do! But why not all! I think thats what he meant....

See? That's what happens. You made a mistake. Let it go, forget it, and start all over again. Don't look back.

No matter what you say or do, you will never fix this thread.

I seriously suggest you ask a mod to lock it up.

i made no mistake, and i'm not going to lock a thread because somebody who can't read misinterprets a thread title. I've explained why my title was correct and accurate, if people can't understand that i suggest they go to another thread where reading is less important.

No, you're not. As I was reading through the post this same logic was in the back of mind. I couldn't have said it better than you. I always thought and wondered about that. Equal rights is equal rights, period. :=D:

I read the OP, and it's no different from the other juvenile OPs that raise this dumb topic. I don't need to learn anything from this, you're the one who's so bothered by the fact that blacks aren't as outspoken in their support for gays as you like them to be.

if you don't need to learn anything from this why did you read the thread and continue to post in it? or is your goal always to waste as much time as possible without learning anything?

Tyler! I understand exactly how you feel but then again people are going to have their opinions and in some places you have to be politically correct not to offend people.... But I get what you are saying... I am African American myself and I am gay and I have had to deal with people in my community (Latino and Black mostly) Who did not like me because of this and who voted against prop 8 and who called me names and said hurtful things to me..... I wondered just like you! How can a group who has been discriminated against discriminate against the LGBT???? And I came to the conclusion that its how they grew up and their culture and religion and no matter how frustrating it is you just got deal with it and stay out of their way.... I just hope that the next generation is more accepting and supporting to all people! White,Black,Gay,Straight,Fat,Skinny, What ever the case.

I gave you my many years or experience here in JUB to try to help you out of a bad situation. You have decided not to heed my advice.

You, my friend, are on your own now. There is nothing more I can do.

You'd think so, only, MANY straights can't see past the sex thang. They don't see realtionships, or care, or love, or support, or family, or anything like that... they think man-on-man sex, and skid to a stop and say... "Ick". And that's good enough for them to leap off the bandwagon... or even prevent them from getting on in the first place.

there was a time when people said "ick" to sharing a bus with blacks, or bathrooms, or schools. but society finally realized how ignorant this was, and established laws outlawing such segregations. yet here we are and the "victims" of that time of prejudice, now vote 70% in favor of banning same sex marriages. if you ask for equal rights, you inherently are inclined to grant equal rights. no?

You're joking, right? I'm assuming you are new.

Stick around...

It was in fact a joke... I am new here but I am a forum junkie and have been to much worse forums.... Much much worse trust me lol. Btw the way nice to meet you Mister Bear Daddy

i appreciate your advice, and I don't plan on getting everyone here to agree. but i feel this topic is important enough to spend my time on it for as long as is needed.

With the exception of your combative and stereotypical posts, the other posters have raised sensible reasons and explanations on why blacks are not fully on-board with gay rights.

I don't believe you really wanted to learn anything either from this topic. Your goal imo was to stir up trouble.

so let me get this straight, i start a topic with the premise of equal rights. you then call my post "juvenile" and this a "dumb topic." and then can sit here and say i am the one starting trouble? last time i checked, entering somebody else's thread, and insulting them and their topic was "starting trouble."

When are we going to stop generalizing? How dare we assume that all blacks share one opinion? For that matter, why do we assume that all gays share one opinion? There are Democratic gays, Republican gays, Independent gays. We all get to decide things for ourselves

I will readily concede that "some" Black Americans are not on board with the struggles of Gay people, but I WILL NOT make blanket generalizations about an entire group of people as U are doing!

What you are doing is simply PC. When people make generalizations like this, however it can be backed up with actual votes like Prop 8, in which the majority of Black and Hispanic voters voted "YES on 8" while the majority of Whites and Asians should both be congratulated on voting under the 50% mark, then yes there is a case for discussion.

It certainly appears that a greater degree of homophobia lies in the Black and Hispanic communities as opposed to the White and Asian communities.

Call it a generalization or whatever. However in this day and age when generalizations are made, you should have enough sense to realize that not EVERY SINGLE member of said communities are being labeled as "homophobic" and "not supporting Gays". However, once any community crosses the 50% mark on anything, they enter the majority. And as far as I'm concerned ... are fair game.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your post and I appreciate you bringing it up. However, I would include Hispanics in this, as well. However, depending on where you live, you may not see their behaviors first-hand as much. If you live anywhere near either the Coasts or the Borders, you have a greater chance of exposure, as well.

But again, thank you for addressing the "tough issues" that sometimes need to be addressed.

I agree! 100% And I am black myself.... Its obvious! At least in the part of LA where I am from
