Children usually believe in fairy tales and mythical creatures. For example many believe Santa Claus to be a real person who is the patriarch of Christmas. He's never witnessed, is believed to be reading wish lists year round, sliding down chimneys Christmas eve, and having a sleigh with reindeer. Celebrities are regularly outed for being awful, have been caught subjugating the people who support them, and people follow/love them regardless.
Why don't people get over them like Santa Claus? Why don't they see Justin Bieber in person and if female realize he didn't write any song specifically for one woman, and that all the women who showed up were duped in the same fashion? Why don't they go to the taping of a talk show, see the host fumble over lines and do multiple re-takes, read from a teleprompter, have an alter ego off set/when the cameras are off, and realize it's all fake? Why don't they ever attempt to become stars themselves, and believe that ones publicized currently aren't any more special than themselves?
I don't believe in celebrities being special, admirable, or anything to invest money into. I've never had an idol, hung a photo of someone on my wall, and have met/seen many in person as a resident of New York City and past audience member of shows filmed here. Many were disassociated, negative, seemed high-highfalutin regardless of their meek reality, didn't look physically superior as opposed to popular belief, and didn't seem to humanize/care about anyone excited to see him/her.
