You don't see much porn with folks dressed up in fur suits because its not really very practical and even among furries it really a turn on to only a very small niche of the population. Furries are folks who like to role play being an anthropomorphic sentient animal. The fur suit is as close as you can come to actually being such a creature but obviously falls short, since the development of the Internet and virtual worlds, most furries play out their character on-line and in art instead. Note that while a lot of sexual play occurs of the community it is not what all furry play is about. Most furry 'porn' is going to be found in art and in interactive role play communities like Second Life where you can actually get something that looks like the fictional reality unlike the guy wearing a suit.

The thing is, there are so many more straight people out there, so if you wanted a certain type of gay porn that's a little bit obscure, you gotta wade through all the straight stuff. I'm not averse to it happening, but I'm not attracted to it. Role play sounds fun, but obscuring costumes with fur just seem an impediment to me. I like men's bodies and I prefer natural fur.

I think you're dead on about the reasons driving why many people get into this stuff. I would only differ with you in that rather than a phase young people are going through as they feel awkward or insecure about their bodies and the idea of intimacy, it instead seems to be something people are increasingly embracing almost like an 'alternate sexuality.' The brony phenomenon is faintly disturbing for the same reason. It's not that this is a phase preceding a healthy or normal love life, but instead, seems to be supplanting a normal love life for many people.
