Why Macs Suck

I'm a Mac and PC user, those videos annoy me to no end. Just because alot of the stuff that the guy says is total shyte. I bang on Windows all the time for it's faults, I continue to use it. As are they Mac things that I don't like, cest la vie.

So far in this thread by putting blackwolf on my ignore list I have been spared reading eight of his vitriolic posts. That and my Mac make for a productive day.:D

Oh I was so hoping to see a Sheep rant, but alas, the ultimate machead has nothing good to say. I wonder if he bought a Macbook Air? Someone on here thought it was revolutionary.

I used to have a consulting firm with 38 employees on Windows machines. I chose to work on a Mac. In those days, WYSIWYG was only available on the Mac. I don't know how many times I had to import pages of written material from the Windows machines to place a graphic, or just to create a WYSIWYG page so it could be edited accurately. Neither of which Windows would do with any WYSIWYG accuracy. Our AT&T project ended up with a little over 10,000 printed pages none of which would have been possible if the Mac hadn't been there to do the layouts.

Additionally, I had to keep a tech on staff just to keep all of those Windows machines working, but he never once in 11 years had to work on my Mac. On average, there were at least two Windows crashes a day, and when you are trying to meet deadlines or suffer monetary penalties, I personally would go with OS X over Windows every time. And Leopard (OS X 5.0) is fantastic if you haven't tried it.

As for your Macs not having crashes, yeah right. OS 9 was a piece of crap, and if you wern't experiencing crashes, you were restarting because it froze.

Just like Windows at the time. Everything has got a lot better since then. (Actually, as someone who was primarily a PC user at that time, I gotta agree with Lalo - Windows was a nightmare for any professional design or media stuff in those days. Apple had it sewn up.)

I don't understand why you want to expend so much energy hating something? If you don't like 'em, don't use 'em. It's really that easy. Let the fanboys have their fun - perhaps you could be a fanboy for something you love, rather than an angry anti-fanboy for something you don't like. :-)

Thank You! You are so true. There will always be haters on something.

Ditto, I have both systems in my office. I use the MacBook a bit more, but they both have their good and bad sides. I might even load Ubuntu onto a old notebook of mine!

I switched to Macs a couple of years ago. I've been working on/building PC for years and still support Windows-based software. About the time malware started propagating I moved my kids over to it. Best thing ever. No more rebuilding their machine frequently. For me it was a no-brainer. It's not for everyone but for the basic user it is the best system. As for a pretty face on UNIX, why not? UNIX has superior memory management and better multitasking abilities than Windows systems.
Agreed. Slapping a face on Unix was the best thing Apple did, if they hadn't then they couldn't bolster what they do today.

Microsoft seems to be going the same route as Apple and are building a OS from the ground up. Although, they wont be basing it off of any previous technology like Apple did. It should be interesting.

You can get the RDK of it for free from codeplex. http://www.justusboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205918

I converted a bit over a year ago and will never go back. I have to use windows at work for somethings and I just know I will get cross with it as soon as I turn it on. My PC's now run Puppy Linux and my EeePC is on Xandros Linux, love it.

Reason #2 to not be an early adopter of new tech.

Steven Levy left his MacBook Air is a stack of magazines and newspapers on his living room table. He thinks his wife threw it away. As people considering plucking down $2000 of our hard earned money for a computer, the desire to wap him in the back of the head is overwhelming.
His excuse? His wife often cleans up his clutter on his living room table. OK. That sounds familiar reasonable. However, knowing this, would you put a $2000 computer in a stack of magazines that your wife routinely scoops up and throws away? Would you even put an important list of to do items in a stack of newspapers your wife is going to throw away?
And Mrs. Levy? That 3 pound magazine you threw away. Didn't it seem a bit heavy? I mean usually the Newsweeks come in at a little less than 3 pounds these days, right?;)

I was taking a look at Linux mint, but I don't like fooling around with live CD's so I won't be playing with it sadly.

never used a Mac and my graphics programs are for PC's. I have two stratch built PC's, I run Cinema4D on one and Maya on the other with no problems. So, you can do 3D graphics on a PC with no troubles.

what pisses me off about Mac fan bouys is when someone posts a question about a problem on a PC, a Mac fanbouy will jump in and not offer a solution but say "you shoulda bought a Mac"

would I buy a Mac ? maybe, if I could get the aforementioned graphics programs licenses for a Mac without having to shell out extra $$. It would be nice to try before you buy ...
