Why Madonna Succeeded When Britney Spears Imploded

The problems right here in this thread, comparison, judgement, criticism.

When madonna was around it was easy to make a hit song, and people would buy it. Nowadays everyone wants to sing, dance, act, etc - theres so much music out there and so many ways to obtain this. Theres also alot of real talent. Also the media plays a larger role in the careers of the famous nowadays. But the debate could go on forever, each weighing in on the whats and whys and ifs and buts - but it stands to reason, Britneys going through something, preforming at this stage in time was just wrong.

"Back in the day" there were also talented, if not more, people in Showbizness. Madonna had to compete with monsters like Kylie M, Mariah, Janet.

The problem right now is that people with less or no talent that don't even try get so much attention than those who do have actual talent.

It's like a big freak show...

You mean....LIFE?

Madonna slept with a whole lot of people to secure a recording contract. Britney started out as a Mouseketeer, and mystifyingly, got a recording contract. Then she became a slut later.

Oh, assuredly. In the 1980s, there were precisely one hundred and four bands in the United States (plus fifteen from the UK and Canada), and only forty-seven solo singers - thirty-one male, sixteen female. They took turns recording the songs written by the thirteen professional songwriters.

Come to think of it, that's the best excuse for Christopher Cross I have yet to see.

Madonna's first hit(s) came about the same way Britney's did. Professional songwriters place a song with a record label, and the label found a suitable singer for said tune. Madonna filled the void left by the death of disco - her first two hits "Everybody" and "Burning Up" were hits on the dance chart but didn't cross over to pop (or MTV, despite what people think now). It took a more melodic "pop" number - "Holiday" - to start crossing her over.

Britney's first hit took four people roughly six years to write. The song was optioned by TLC but they decided to pass on it. Jive expressed interest in the song, and thought it'd be an ideal tune to launch a recent signing - Britney. They filmed a school-girl fantasy video for the number, and Jive sold the song as a good counterpoint to the boyband fodder they were serving up at the time. The plugging worked - the song went to #1, something none of the boyband songs had managed to do.

Life experience is key.
When Madonna burst onto the scene she had been living independantly for a while whereas Britney has been surround by individuals telling her what to do in regards to her career here entire life, most of all her parents. Thus when Britney finally broke free of the chains that bound her she went crazy and still is. She never found who she was before all the worldwide fame, Madonna obviously had the stability that Britney of so obviously lacks.

I think I remember Madonna saying in a British interview that the places she stayed in New York when she was first starting out were all cockroach infested dumps. She barely had a thing to eat but all she did was focus on auditions and constantly she got knocked back for nearly everything she tried for. Her mother died when she was young and her father was less than supportive about her move to New York.

I don't think Britney has ever not been encouraged or supported by her parents and her family. Some would say her parents have been a bit too pushy when it came to her career at a young age because it seems like she has never been out of the limelight.

Madonna's had to fight for everything she's got and everything she's had. Britney seems to have been guided into this business out of her love for dancing but perhaps wasn't altogether prepared for what a successful long career entails.

I'm being inflammatory and slanderous. I don't need to provide proof. LOL

I heard the allegation put similarly on MuchMusic (Canadian version of MTV) after Madonna had three or four albums out, and their nightly Spotlight Special was about her. Normally they did a short summary of the artist's career history then played a bunch of their videos. Steve Anthony introduced hers simply as, "tonight's feature is Madonna. She slept with a whole lot of people, got a recording contract, and here she is".

Britney "joins" Madonna on the Sticky & sweet tour

Madonna has recruited Britney Spears for a virtual appearance on her upcoming tour.

"There is footage being shot of Britney some time this week in conjunction with Madonna's upcoming Sticky & Sweet tour," Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told the Associated Press. "That is all the information I have available. The rest is 'a secret.'"

Madonna guest starred in a music video for Spears' single "Me Against the Music" in 2003. The singers stirred up controversy that year with an open-mouth kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Madonna, 49, will kick off her tour Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and wind through European destinations before jumping to the U.S. in October. She'll wrap it up Nov. 30 in Mexico City.
