Why the hell do people like the Hunger Games movie?

Um... Smart people realize the BOOK is a satire of us all watching reality tv. Also, it is the best book to film adaptation that I personally have ever seen. You are ignorant to what it is truly about in the fr,om your question is in because it would be vial if it were in a time like ours, but it is in a differ.ent type of society. If you think back, people have always watched events were people die or could die. Besides IT IS FICTION .

Knucklehead and I saw it when it first came out. Neither of us had read the book but we both found it to be an entertaining way to kill an hour or two. Certainly wasn't the best movie I've ever seen but was far from the worst.

Am I the only one absolutely not interested in this movie? Why the hell do people want to watch a bunch of kids killing each other? Ignoring this is completely off the wall...

If you apply this logic, then why would you want to watch any movie that involved killing of any kind. It's not like its a couple of hours of kids killing each other with no rhyme or reason. Maybe if you watch it you'll find out.

it was alright in a hollow kind of way. I still preferred the Japanese film Battle Royale over it.

I thought it was good. I read the books, and I gotta agree that it is easily one of the ebst book --> movie adaptations I've seen in a while. Still like the book better though.

(And I have wanted to see Battle Royale for YEARS now... but now that I finally found somewhere to rent it, my boyfriend says he doesn't wanna see it! lol... so I have to wait till I have the house to myself and can rent it lol!!)

The movie sucks, you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. It is definitely not even close to the best book-to-film adaption. Ever heard of Lord of the Rings?! There's no beating that.

One of the best book series I've read and I really liked the movie, but as a die hard fan it never lived up to my expectations and imagination. But I agree that josh hutcherson and Alexander Ludwig and Jack Quaid were very enjoyable to watch. Lol.

Same reason you think something is good. Because it appeals to them.

Someone could ask a similar question to you: "Why the hell do you like men?"

I knew little of it, but liked the concept. Reminded me of The running Man in concept.
Then I saw it. I rather liked it. It actually inspired me to read the books. That almost NEVER happens.
I'm on book 3 now. Not sure I like the way its going but I can't wait to see the next films. To see the books come to life.
Plus I want to see more of Gale (Liam Hemsworth). :luv:

I still don't understand why killing films are legal but erotic hot sex films are illegal in most countries.

Because sex is more dangerous than violence for those societies, I think. By societies I mean the class in power in those.

I see what you did there. ;)

I've seen it. I thought it was an unusual, yet fantastic movie. I realize it was based on fiction, and I didn't like the kids being killed... but when I looked past all of that, the movie itself had me so sucked into the story, I couldn't stop watching (or talking about it days afterward).

And can we all agree Josh Hutcherson is hot as hell? I couldn't stop staring at him. :p

People are entitled to make as much of a deal out of it as they'd like. Just like you're entitled to complain about it. It's an opinion, and you don't have to listen to them.

Also, it's kind of unfair to cast a judgement on the movie if you haven't seen it, let alone only skimmed through the books. Honestly, when I went to see it, I was dragged to the movie theater by my friend. I had no prior knowledge of the entire series, and thought it would be bad. But I watched it, and found it to be really good.

My advice would be to go see it. If you don't like it, then it's your choice not to. But don't chastise those who do. :)

I love you. :p

But yes. I get how people can jump to conclusions based on mainstream media. I was that way with Harry Potter. That never interested me. Then I saw all movies and read the books. Like the books a little better, and the movies weren't bad at all. But at least I was able to confirm that I didn't care much for them.

The Hunger Games was better in my opinion. I read the books and saw the movie. And yes, Josh is fucking gorgeous. Also, he has an amazing bubble behind him. ;) :p

I watch the hunger game twice, First I thought it was a nice movie. But on second watch, I am still interested in it. I was not bored at all. I was still kept interested on the Movie. I guess I like the Movie hahah.

And I like the series too but I sometimes think the books are going at such a fast pace. I need one more installment for Hunger Games Series!

I haven't watched it and probably won't.
I haven't read the trilogy and probably won't.
I'm not calling it not worthy to read/see and I won't discourage people from watching/reading it; it's just not my cup of tea.
From the time I read the synopsis one and half year ago, Battle Royale popped to my mind and so I lost interest almost instantly.

The biggest problem I have with it is that apparently Robert Pattinson is set to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire. I can't stand that guy, and he better not ruin this series lol! (plus he's not NEARLY pretty enough to pull off Finnick... but I don't know why anyone thought he was pretty enough to pull of Edward either...)
