Sure. These are two of the most recent ones in the last month. But in my 3 years here, there have been countless threads supporting a hot guy with such a severe personality flaw.

Let me correct myself earlier, instead of "gay guy" I meant "hot guy". Gay men (hopefully just on this board) have a penchant for defending attractive people through thick and thin.

One that sticks in my mind was from a reality TV show here in the states. The Real World Colorado show threads are in the archive and aren't retrievable it seems. But one person, was gay and attractive. You wouldn't believe how many divas on this board came to his defense when he repeatedly used racially charged words.

Eminem the openly homophobic rapper has a continuous supply of "look at Eminem's ass" threads. I guess the homophobic lyrics in his songs don't bother his gay fans.

That's "common" on "JUB," if the Mods "taxed" us for "quotation marks" we'd be "broke." I "think" some people "just" like seeing "them" because they use them "excessively."

Lostlover, I see where you're coming from, hotness can get you out of any sticky situation, some people on this board just don't have (m)any moral standards and will forgive anything that appeals to their sensibilities. For instance there has never been a thread about racism that wasn't met with pages of considerable cynicism and skepticism, unless the perpetrator was wearing a white hood you're just a "race card playing leech."

But homophobia, my God, we will find it everywhere and mob accordingly.

what i understood was that the op was putting the subject and object of the heterosexual version of the question into the parentheses. i didn't take it as the op equating asian men with straight women, if that is what you are alluding to. i thought he was just questioning why gay western men, OR straight western men, are drawn to dark-skinned asian men, OR dark-skinned asian women.

anyway, i find the subject interesting because i never really thought of westerners thinking of asians in terms of skin tone. i always felt that they saw all asians as being the same (i.e. "all asians look alike"). i've also never really seen a difference between the number of non-asian men with light-skinned asian men/women and the number of non-asian men with dark-skinned asian men/women. i always thought that the western attraction for an asian partner is not because of physical features, but mainly because they are supposedly sexually submissive.

but if there is a difference, and western men are attracted to darker asians, i would think that it would be explained by the standard of beauty of the west. post-industrialization western societies placed a higher value onto darker/tanner skin once more people started working indoors. they also started connecting undesirable traits to lighter skin, such as equating it with sickness.

however, i think that this standard of beauty really only applies to the white population of the west, because i have heard and read that most non-white cultures in the west desire lighter skin. and it would actually be funny if western men were more drawn to dark-skinned asians because dark-skinned asians, and asians in general, are constantly trying to lighten their skin, which is why the skin-whitening business is a huge market in asia.

This totally because of people's attraction: Some do attract by white, some by black, and some by smooth skin and cute (as most Asian guys are...)

Well, with media being more globalized, more people are starting to be more into Asian men because they are actually portrayed positively (Unlike how they are portrayed in the US).

I also know a lot of people that are very into asian culture in general and sometimes to a point obsessed, so I wouldn't blame them for liking Asian guys.

I really don't think it's ALL about how Asians are smoother and petite. Although, if you are top, it does somewhat contribute to it.

Being a self confessed rice queen (only does asian) to me its the skin colouring as im very pale and love tanned darker skin hence my choice in guys being malay/viet/Thai and Indo...also for me its the physical features aswell as cultural differances....and for some reason i just ALWAYS have gotten along better with asian guys, rather than white guys!!!

Well I am a straight white woman and I prefer Asian men over all other races. Though I do like Latin men as well. To me it is their small eyes, silky black hair and great bodies. Let me add though I only like masculine muscular Asian men. These femme twinks are a no go for me.
