Why Young People Are Right About Hillary Clinton

I recall the disillusionment when 'yes we can' turned to 'we are trying' and then 'we've come out with the best compromise we could'.

That's Sanders' greatest risk, and Trump's... Their popular support bases are reactive and punish compromise.
That's what Clinton is subject to right now, being seen as a compromiser isn't much different from being the opposition in the eyes of idealists.
Even though realistically, compromise is the nature of democracy.

This has been the danger of creating political extremes throughout history.....once you get reactionaries who decide that compromise means capitulation...you get the centre being silenced as the fringes get control of the entire conversation.

The sign of a healthy democracy is the ability to govern through compromise.

As the reactionary right has moved away from this principle....they have unleashed a culture of intransigence..

There is nothing as dangerous as neurotics who have their hopes dashed. They turn bitter and cynical and destructive. And then start moving on to the next great hope, because to yield to reality would mean that their dreams are dashed.

And the letter of response is so spot on---I use to admire Mike Taibbi a lot---but I have noticed over the past few years he's going over the top in his rhetoric and seems sloppy in his analysis. Trying to make a name for himself and stand out.

oh is that how it goes ?? you love him but then he doesn't feel that Hillary speaks for or works for progressives

and he's shit ?

to quote the troll here "sounds like Hillarysplaining"

In any political contest, anywhere on this planet there are going be moments for the young, and idealistic when a saviour appears in their midst to lead them into the promised land.

Those Alice in Wonderland moments should be enjoyed, and celebrated before reality knocks on the door, to remind the joyous masses that progress can appear to rest, and recover before resuming its journey.

It has been said by the most progressive of people that there's a difference between keeping an open mind, and believing something because you want it to be true.

Self delusion has its merits, when believing that ones beliefs, and reality are compatible just because we believe.

Alice in Wonderland is a story

Fighting for rights is a cause

your attempted connection is sad

No he's not shit he's still cute and charming and trying to make a name for himself---that's fine---I think the open letter to him stated what his problem is---he's not informed.

LOL he's "not informed" ?

this is what he does for a living

and he's got quite a name for himself - well known - def. a saber rattler

his thoughts resonate with most all millennials (and younger) which is why Hillary loses by a 4 to 1 margin

why is that ? they're all dumb ?

he's quite informed

you just don't like his laying out the facts

as for the response ...... never heard of Trevor

and my guess is we never will

that this is his one ode to Hillary and we'll not hear from him again

Not really informed ---more a saber rattler---& just the right wing talking points we all heard---as the response was spot on and expressed my views completely. Tony Kushner ---a brilliant man---was interviewed tonight-- he's a socialist and huge Hillary supporter----he's as confused as I am at all the misinformed hate that is directed at Hillary. You're a repub anyway so whatever :p

Tony Kushner ? the playwright ?

his journalistic credentials relative to Matt Taibbi ...... don't register

the real confusion lies with so called progressives who instead of supporting a candidate who represents their values and hopes and dreams

instead support the 2nd best candidate

establishment politics blows

as for your comments towards me ....... I'm supporting the ONLY progressive candidate there is in the race

while you support a candidate who backed the Iraq war, takes millions from Wall St. and is against the single payer system

facts are facts

ok whatever---Kushner is a brilliant man and historian---and way smarter than cutie Taibbi---and his opinion on politics and his knowledge of history is way over the head of Matt---so yeah Tony Kushner the playwright.

Hillary people are going to be in for a shock when they realize that 80-90% of Americans are not illegal immigrants looking for amnesty, but working class people and citizens that demand the effing B draw a line in the sand for them, so far she has refused to do.

What about the thirty-to-sixty million Americans not included in your “not illegal immigrants looking for amnesty” category?

Who are they?

Working class people?

And another Bernie fan called her a whore...

Classy guys.

Sometimes...if you pay attention....you can see a Trump fan pretending to be a Bernie fan peeking out behind the curtains. They slip a lot...but I pretend I don't notice.

Just wait until Hillary wins the nomination....you won't have to pay attention then..it will be blatant....get prepared to listen to all the reasons the Bernie fans can't vote for Hillary....but the only ones they will fool are the actual Bernie Fans who they want to divide. If they fool enough of them...they can win the election....which is the point.

Ah the old argument that bernie only attracts white voters.

Hawaii, where Sanders won in a landslide, is only 27-percent white...
.....He appears to have edged Clinton out amongst Latinos in Illinois and scored a victory in heavily Arab-American Dearborn. Sanders is now polling at 60-percent amongst non-white voters under 35, and 54-percent amongst black voters in that cohort, according to Reuters.

Here's some shocking news you might not be aware of: people pay good money to see the best in their respective fields whether it is an athlete, musician, performer, and yes, even politician. Companies like Goldman Sachs are willing to pay top-dollar for someone like Hillary Clinton so that it makes the company look good and makes the employees feel good about themselves.
And LOL.... I'm sure she's soo inspiring, people will pay half a mil to hear her talk flowers and rainbows about wallstreet. How much media coverage did Bernie Sanders get for his 3 state landslide last Sat.? While they try to pass it off because Hillary is still ahead (and losing delegates) to Bernie?

There is one for sure in this forum, and he thinks he has us fooled.

Standard Machiavellian strategy to appear here, as you are not.

One who deceives will always find those who allow themselves to be deceived.¬ Niccolo Machiavelli

And another Bernie fan called her a whore...

Classy guys.

I mean you guys might not name call the candidate but you sure do the supporters and act condescending on here as well.. So I don't see where you get to be on your high horses at all.

I'm not aware that anyone has been calling Bernie's fans fucking bitches and whores...and that would be very sad.

As is the underlying misogyny in calling a woman candidate a fucking bitch or whore. Someone on this board apparently called her a cunt back in 2008. Male candidates, of course, are relatively immune from the sexualized terms of disparagement.....I guess cocksucker might be the only one at hand....and certainly Bernie won't ever be labelled as that.

It is a shame that feelings run so high when people are attacking their opponents, because it devalues any real discussion of the actual issues, but it is indicative of a real structural problem when it happens in the selection process for the party's candidate.

But to the point. In the same way that it is beyond imagining to still hear about Obama being referred to as a 'nigger' after almost 8 very successful years in the white house as holder of the highest office in the land....surely Hillary Clinton, after a long and distinguished career in her own right as a senator and secretary of state deserves better than 'fucking bitch' or 'whore'.

Those terms only illustrate the bankrupt intellect of the person using them.

I like you rareboy but I do feel you hold a double standard here. No one said those things about people who support him, but they constantly say how Bernie supporters are less intelligent on a consistent basis. Does this not devalue the real discussion? Does someone going off about how they hate Bernie not devalue the discussion? I don't see anyone going at these people or telling them they are making their supporter base or candidate look bad.

Regardless of the insults both sides have devalued the discussion multiple times. Most people are incapable of having a discussion without doing so and they bring the rest of the people actually trying to down with them.

I don't think that I have double standard about posters insulting supporters of another candidate on these forums. I certainly don't question the sincerity, the passion or the intellect of anyone who supports Bernie....and I still hold that 90% (at least) of all Hillary voters like him and would support him as the candidate if he wins the nomination.

And I don't have an issue with anyone saying they hate Hillary as long as they have coherent and rational, defensible reasons for that hate....although I don't understand the hate or the need for hate.

And I don't recall anyone attacking Bernie with the vehemence and rage that I've seen over the last few months being directed at Hillary. So I don't see that a spirited defence of a candidate...or a respectful challenge to a candidate makes supporters of candidates look bad as voters move through the selection process.

But when we get a poster like Evanrick calling Hillary a fucking bitch...then I think he has hit the lowest point possible....and after weeks of his unhinged posts...that is really saying something.
