Wifi Keeps Dropping on Laptop

The connection to Wifi just drops out of nowhere. It has been doing this for months.

I do have a router (Linksys).

Any solutions?
 
I first suggest looking at other available wifi access points available to see if your channel number overlaps with others. I went from 30Mb/s to 130Mb/s with just a channel change.

Remember, there's bleed into the next channel. So, if a lot of people are on 6, avoid 5-7.

After that, walk around a bit and watch your signal strength. Perhaps your router's antennae aren't aligned properly for optimum coverage.

How would I do the bolded part?

Also, I'm switching between four and five reception bars with five being the best reception.
 
Sorry for the wait. I have a fresh install and nothing's installed.

So, I don't see anything in bold; since you talked about your reception bars, I assume you're asking about looking at other networks.

Download Xirrus WiFi Inspector and install it. You'll need .net 2.0 installed (found that out quickly.)

When you open it you'll see a list of available access points. To the right you'll see the column showing "Channel" make a list and see which is the least-used channel in your area.

Up top you'll see the information for your connection. Note the "Mode" and "Signal" readings and let me know.
 
Signal strength seems okay. Does the wifi drop in a certain location more than any others?

Did you notice if you have a lot of other wifi networks operating on the same channel?
 
My iPhone interferes with my laptop's wifi reception for some reason. When I go online on the laptop, I turn the iPhone wifi off in Settings.

Try turning of wifi reception on your cellphone perhaps.
 
If you are running on a secure network try disabling any keys, run open for a bit and see what happens.
