I actually remember when I first heard of Obama. At the time, I was in school and saw the news that he had won his senate seat. Then for the next few years, he kept making headlines. Republicans loved to attack him.

Much in the same way, AOC came out of no where and made a big splash. Republicans love to hate her. She keeps making headlines.

She almost had me with the $$$ she raised for Texas but now she makes my skin crawl with the $4,000 covid bullshit. She knows it is bullshit too.

My first thought when I saw she was one of the architects of that lie - Presidential run.

I don't trust her now.

The lie came from the Biden administration and comparison to Josh Hawley is just completely out of touch. Last time I checked she doesn't support extremists who raided to Capitol building.

If you want to know what is Trump-like, maybe you should look up the Trumpe-era immigration policies that Biden seems to not mind keeping around.

She knows exactly what she is doing. She isn't confused - but she confused her fans which is taking a page from the trump bible.

The ads Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff ran literally had a $2000 check with a “vote blue for a $2,000 check!”. This was all DURING the time the $600 checks were being voted on, it’s not remotely reasonable to say everyone understood that they would be $1,400 because 2000-600 is 1400.

On AOC: AOC is a populist first, and she is all for giving the needy as much money as possible, it’s no surprise she would push for the extra $600 to make the checks $2000. It’s why I like her.

Also I think dems are failing to consider the effects their policies will have in 2022, especially in Georgia which was won by such a slim margin (which is exactly what AOC was/is saying). We will have to see.

And also there was misleading--at best--talk to suggest the checks would go out quickly, which didn't happen. "A few days" became "maybe March" when the election was over. And there was plenty of reason to believe that the time frame would end up "never."

Not that I'm in the least bit surprised. The checks were useful campaign tools, and that's all I think a lot of Democrats in power cared about.

Perhaps I'm cynical, but that cynicism has been fueled by what I've observed of the Democrats in recent history.

This cynicism also makes me think AOC has no prayer of being president any time soon. The only realistic path forward is running as a Democrat. (I dream of a viable third party, or the possibility of an independent running and winning--but both scenarios are unlikely any time soon with our current system.) And the party at the higher levels would not want her as president. She's too far left for a party that's become largely Ronald Reagan Lite.

Unfortunately this will fall on deaf ears. No matter the sources you bring or how reasonable you come about with your arguments that dare go against the status quo of Democrats. People are on here like one is this thread is simply projecting. They go on about how people like AOC are spewing Trump-like lies and are like a cult when they them very selves are the ones acting in that manner.

In 2022 if Democrats start losing, watch the typical cycle of how leftists will get blamed for it, especially people like AOC. It is apparently never the fault of the Democratic party that will lead to this.

I trust the SNOPES analysis on this issue and pretty much every issue over ANY politician - even ones I like.
