I wonder when I erase my SD card will it erase my contact list on my android phone?

What else will be erased when I erase SD card?

I want to erase sd card because I entered a contacts number wrong, I think its stuck on sd card.

I can "edit contacts" but when I try to text my phone always reverts to wrong number.

If the phone is configured to store contacts on the SD card then yes, they will be erased. If they're stored with gmail you should be okay. If the latter, perhaps login to gmail and edit the contact there and then sync the phone.

You can always connect the SD card to your computer and see exactly what you'd lose by erasing it.

I thought all that information stored on the phone's memory and not the SD card.

No. The contact list is (normally) stored in phone memory, not on the SD card. You can back your contact list up to the SD card, but I don't think there is any way to move the contact list out of phone memory and solely onto the SD card. (There may be an app that can do that, but I don't think stock Android can do that).

Virtually anything stored on the card will be erased. That would likely be most of your music, photographs, and videos. It's possible that some of your installed apps have been moved to the SD card as well.

Why don't you try an experiment. Pull out your existing SD card and use the phone without it. I bet all the contacts will show up exactly as they do with the card in place - because the contacts are not stored on the SD card.

It is unlikely that your contacts list is even on the SD card. Even if it is, it is unlikely that that is the reason you cannot edit an incorrect number. Here is a description of how to edit contacts that I copied and pasted from an Android BB:

To get to where you can edit the contact from the dialer app, you need to go to the contacts list and click on the picture of the person (or where the picture would be if you had one), not the name. It will pop up a half page with the contact's picture and number. Click on the person's picture again. That will take you to the person's entry in the People app. From there you can edit the contact.
