Hollywood's top-earning actors

Harrison Ford is riding high again, while funnyman Will Ferrell is firing blanks.

<snip>

To figure out earnings, we talked to agents, managers, producers and lawyers to determine what the stars earned as upfront pay on movies they are currently shooting, as well as backend pay earned after a movie hit the theaters. We also looked at any money actors might have earned from doing ads for things like beer, banks and coffee.

<snip>

Coming in at the bottom of our top 20 is Will Ferrell. The former Saturday Night Live star has seen a steady decline in box office revenue for his comedies. Things hit bottom this weekend when his remake of the TV show Land of the Lost earned just $18 million at the box office.

i never thought he was funny, even on snl, AND i'm happy to say that i've never seen a movie of his.

I dislike him so much that I didn't even realise I've been spelling his name incorrectly all this time.

I don't think he's funny either and avoid his films...but still ...I'd think ranking number 20 in Hollywood's top earning actors for the past year is still pretty good. I really just don't get his appeal...moronic if you ask me...no offense to morons.

Now, if we can only get Adam Sandler off the list too...:mrgreen:

If you guys THINK the current FLOP in the theatres will stop his $100-million dollar sweep at the Box Office you're sadly mistaken...

He's goofy but he'll get another Block buster..he always does....

I've been reading some of the comments and reviews at IMDb. So far, it's a bomb and far from meeting expectations and even people who are getting free tickets are walking out of the theatres.

Apparently the scenes with Matt Lauer are the funniest in the entire movie. Otherwise, if you want to see Cha-ka groping Holly's boobs and Marshall's crotch, or to see Will Ferrell douse himself with dinosaur piss or (serious ewwwww factor here!!) drinking it, you might find it worth the price of a ticket.

I always thought I was alone in not thinking he was funny. I don't know why but I just don't enjoy him or his movies. Here I've been all this time thinking there was something wrong with me.

^ Nope. I can't abide him, either. He was the weakest link in 2005's The Producers; completely out of his depth. I didn't even rate that film very highly anyway- it fell far short of living up to the excellence of the original 1968 movie, in my opinion- but at least all of the other performers had their moments of comedic glory; simply because they knew how to play the material.

not a fan, don't like most of his movies. I will say that I have thought he was funny in a couple of films, but that's it.

I've been known to say that he's the most embarrassingly unfunny comedian since Pauly Shore.

Will Ferrel, Pauly Shore, Jim Carey, etc. The list seems endless. How can so many, totally unfunny buffons make a living. Guess the American public are bigger idoits than than the fools they pay to see,.

^ Jim is surprisingly good in drama. Before he left Canada for the States and got into his 'nonsense' comedy, he did a television movie here in which he played a teen alcoholic. His performance was amazing. He also did a supporting role as a stand-up comedian who was helping an overweight girl gain her confidence and get into stand-up as well.

Everything changed when he moved south.

The only movie of his I enjoyed was Anchorman. Otherwise, he's totally unfunny and his movies are a complete waste of my time and money.

Old School and Elf were hilarious. After that, I agree, his movies have declined.

There's nothing worse than someone who thinks they're funny but isn't. In that department, I'm afraid Will Ferrell is a distant second. Jack Black is the one who needs to be stopped.
