Hopefully we will be able to find a cure and not have to be so afraid of not using a condom during sex. Before AIDS, you still had to worry about other things you could catch as well. Some people in long term relationships don't use condoms if they are both tested and trust each other. Whether you use or not is up to the individual, if you're promiscuous I would hope that you would be careful of your life and other peoples. Being the slut that I am, I always carry condoms with me and make sure that I'm safe as possible with someone.

My BF and I started out using condoms and then we both went and got tested and were both negative and the trust was there so we stopped using them. It was awesome :)

Even with men I trust I have always used a condom. Using condoms makes me feel safe and I will not willingly have sex with someone who wont allow me to protect myself.

TRUST is the main ingredient in a monogamous relation for sure. That is not the same as PROOF - but life might now be worth it to some to forgo the trust
ding

To quote another JUBer, "Trust doesn't prevent HIV, condoms do."

LOTS of people contract the disease from lovers that they trusted, that they swore to the high heavens was being faithful.

I think it's equal parts wishful thinking, WANTING to believe that we've found Captain Amazing, and arrogance, some of us forget that we're not Gods. We're all human and prone to animalistic desires, even good men cheat.

I repeat, even good men cheat.

^I was just reading a story about a gay man who contracted the disease from a "monogamous boyfriend" of several years.](*,)

Why do people assume that just because you are gay you are going to get HIV?

Using condoms is a personal choice for people. Gay couple are no different then straight couples. Albeit HIV rates are much higher in the gay community.

The decision to use condoms is entirely up to the couple. If you're talking about permiscous sex without condoms, that's a different story as anyone gay or straight should always be using condoms.

I haven't seen anyone assume that. I have seen suggestions that people who have unprotected sex are at risk for HIV which is backed by statistics and, uhhh, science.

This is the idea that makes me wanna bang my head on the wall. People speak as if "HIV" and "promiscuous" are synonymous, as if people only get HIV during one-night stands.

That ignorance leads a lot of poor fools straight to the clinic when, all of a sudden, their health starts fading. Then it's "How could this happen to me?! I thought he loved me, he said he would never cheat on me!"

And then, guess who gets to pay for the expensive meds? Tax payers! We get to pay for the medication of people who were dense enough to believe they had found the Holy Grail, a faithful man.

I didn't enjoy bailing out Wall Street and I don't enjoy bailing out silly fags with Cinderella dreams of monogamy.

Chile boo.

Here we go again. Thread #832,654 about how gay men cannot be trusted to be faithful.

^There we go again with people being disingenuous when talking about gays. You guys are so overprotective of the gay community that you ignore statistics, facts.

First of all, infidelity affects EVERY subgroup, heteros included, their "failed monogamy" rates are just as bad if not worse. Hetero men are just as whorish.

Don't let fragile sensibilities get in the way of reality and common sense.

No one is saying it's impossbile, but honesty isn't always welcome on JUB.

Thread #786,124 about how men are by nature unfaithful dogs and women are by nature faithful and chaste.
These cheating heterosexual men must be cheating with someone. It's not like one random hussy is servicing them all.

I'm sorry that all your experiences with men have been negative but please don't place a scarlet letter on all of us.

Infidelity has more to do with the heart than it does with gender or sexuality, imho.

Thread #786,124 about how men are by nature unfaithful dogs and women are by nature faithful and chaste.

You're pulling a lot of shit out of your ass. I said nothing about women. I don't believe women are "faithful and chaste", I believe that their sexual behavior is underplayed, but we're talking about GAY men so women aren't really in the equation.

I'm sorry that all your experiences with men have been negative but please don't place a scarlet letter on all of us.

Your ignorance is starting to get embarrassing. I've had few relationships, the ones I did have were pleasant. Frankly it's getting pathetic, you're posting words but none of them mean anything. Holla back when you can put a coherent series of thoughts together, based on FACTS, not fairy tales or ASSumptions about my life.

The sad part is that your side of argument is true in some cases, but you refuse to see that the other is true to.

What am I refusing to see? I never said men can't be trusted, I'm not saying all men are trash, the truth is somewhere in the middle. The REALITY is that, of all the men telling me they "trust their boyfriend", some of them WILL end up regretting.

Please stop talking unless you know what you're talking about, I know that is VERY hard for you to do, but please try. :)

I do know what I'm talking about. Your desire to be a condescending bitch is getting in the way of common sense. I guess infidelity doesn't exist. I guess cheaters don't exist, I just made it all up. The truth of this is that these kinda comments get under your skin because they shatter your fantasy relationship. I'm sure your boyfriend is a wonderful, amazing guy. But he's a human being just like the rest of us.

ok, i dont think anyone, gay or straight, could responsibly have unprotected sex

LOL! Have you forgotten that heterosexuals need to have unprotected sex in order to procreate?

Right, trust prevents STDs, duly noted.

I need to call Scientific Journal, they've been reporting this madness about how condoms prevent STDs.

They've got it all wrong, it's trust.

My problem is this, the ones who end up with a disease are lumped together with smokers and people who eat Mcdonald's everyday.

They end up with a medical condition that they can't afford to treat so....who gets the bill?

Tax payers. I'm not a big fan of paying for other people's stupidity via PREVENTABLE diseases.

And, once again, you've posted this bullshit that your relationship doesn't mean anything if you don't risk your life. First of all, unprotected anal sex is gross, it's not just about STDs, it's about hygiene. Some people don't enjoy sticking their raw penis up a shithole.

Have unprotected, condomless sex, or will they have to live their entire lives rolling ballons on their pole to ensure they stay healthy? When you're in a long-term relationship should you still use a condom at all times? Or is it perhaps ok to become a bit lax after a while, if the trust is there? And can any man, especially gay, ever be trusted sexually anyway?

Well you know my opinion on these whores. 'Aint none of 'em angels. Seriously, if HIV were cured today it's still a bad idea to inject other people's impurities up your butt because it's not equipped to neutralize them, unlike your mouth or stomach, which are full of bug-eating enzymes and acids.

My partner and I stopped using protection around year 2. Then we stopped having sex around year 5. :D

I figure by year 15 we will probably have forgotten each other's names...
